S6 & Carphone Warehouse

Anyone have any experience here?

I have an S4 Mini, that I've had for 18 months, and I'm due an upgrade on my o2 contract in Jan I believe.

I can upgrade now, at a cost of �70 to "buy out" my remaining contract, should I wish to.

However, the S6 I want on the upgrade is only available with 2GB less data, and �15 more per month.

However, looking at Carphonewarehouse, I can approach them as a new customer, on o2, for 24 months, on the S6 for �6 less per month for the same deal. How does this work?

I presume I would pay the �70 fee to o2, and get a PAC code, and give that to CPW, or are o2 able to price match CPW to keep me on the contract? I've had the same contract with o2 for 12 years, so don't really want to terminate that, and join as a new customer.

Also it appears that buying the phone Sim Free and taking a Sim Only deal is no longer a decent option. The phone is circa �550 with �20pm for a decent tariff, putting it around �980 over the two years, compared to �864 on a contract deal!!

Any advice would be great.

Don't forget the plus of sim free. No contract, no buy out fee. I'm sim free, look after my phones and upgrade whenever I fancy something new.

Thanks, I had not even thought of the Giff Gaff deals, which seem decent! Far better than O2 Sim only deals anyway.

Looking at that site from HDUK, whilst the contract is good, I'm now leaning towards SIM Free again!

It's no secret the price will drop after release, and to be honest I'm in no IMMEDIATE rush, looking at this:

It may be worth hanging around till nearer Christmas time I think. Buy the phone sim free, possibly via Quidco on a cashback creditcard, and take a Giff Gaff sim out �15 pm for 3GB 4g, unlimited texts and 500 minutes.

I do like the idea of being able to change the phone when I want!

What's the cheapest anyone has seen the S6 at the moment?

I pay �15 on 3 for unlimited data (including a 4GB tethering allowance), unlimited texts and 200 mins. I think that's superb value for money but don't think you can still get that plan - my wife pays �17 for it I think.

I find the mobile classified section on AVForums is easily the best place for handsets, I've had loads off there. There's always plenty up for grabs, especially the latest phones.
