    Default Fibre availability?

I live in a semi rural village. BT advertise on most of the cabinets in the village that fibre is available. The only cabinet that doesn't appear to have it is the one I'm connected to. Anyway, a BT engineer visited and said that he could easily connect me to one of the other cabinets in the village so I could have fibre but he couldn't do it because he can't get authorisation. Is there anyway I could force their hand and get them to change my connection or am I stuck with painfully slow broadband?

    Default Re: Fibre availability?

Worked for BT as a subbie and as such when I was in same situation I was able to get it sorted. TBH your best bet is persistence. Catch the right CS rep and you are laughing. If you get through to India hang up and try again as they just read from a script. If you get someone who can think for themselves then you actually can get this solved. I worked on the software that does all the automated routing from exchange to premises so I know they will do it if pushed, but you gotta push.

Legally they could charge you about £2000 to provide FTTP (I know you are saying you have FTTC and that is enough but they might argue you must have FTTP) but in a lot of cases to look "good" if you get the right person they just do it.

Not BT chap anymore so thing may have changed but from conversations I have had with BT chaps I still know recently it is a telephone lottery !!!!!
