Windows 7 SLIC bios mod activation in 2015

After fixing a laptop, installing a new SSD and reinstalling Win7 professional im stuck at activation of windows 7.

Its more of a trying to remember what I did last time exercise but if i recall I used a sticker code last time, which I have lost, and the times before that WTK worked, however this isnt the case.

So, I grabbed a bios prepatched for my Asus 5057G and flashed it, but I cant figure out whats the next step, ive stumbled into a load of guides that either start at patching the bios yourself and I get lost, or ones that are laden with download links to apps that are either out of date, or the links are dead.

So, in the year 2015, what should I be using?

Download SLIC Toolkit and run as admin, check that it sees SLIC 2.1 in your BIOS and make a note of what manufacturer and number it has. Then download the certificates, find the one for your BIOS and install, then install the OEM key for your manufacturer and version of Windows. Right click my computer, properties, scroll down and it should be activated. I will try to post the commands when I get to a computer.

In CMD (run as admin), replace with file name from cert and OEM key:

slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\SLICNAME.xrm-ms
slmgr.vbs /IPK xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

Slic toolkit is giving me a 0.0 for my slic bios version, so I presume I need to address that first.

I downloaded and flashed a bios already, does this mean that failed for some reason?

They seem to have tested it and it works, did you flash from Windows or boot to the flash tool? Were there any errors? Were you on the same version of BIOS already before flashing?

The download came with a tool to install it, I just ran that within windows

I updated to the same version of the bios a few days earlier, and that has been the latest for a few years as the lappy is a 2011 model, or thereabouts.

just ran the flash again and its worked, so should I use the info from slic toolkit and those links to do this now:

actually, just noticed slic toolkit is saying "no oem certificate found (run as admin)" in red letters, is that a problem?

right, had problems getting the cert files, which took a while, ran the command prompt with everything as I thought, pop up said shit registered OK but my windows is still saying 27days left to register. any ideas?

had to use the option to change my serial and pasted the same one I put into the registry command, works!
