Destiny - The Taken King. Have you?

Major uproar going on in the world of Bungie/Activision/Destiny.

The developers really haven't thought it through.

If you are a hardcore fan and funded Bungie to create this Year Two upgrade. You're likely to feel like this episode has been a real slap in the face.

I bought Destiny on release day for £39.99 and loved it.

Expansions came out and although a load of bad press, I purchased both at full price (£19.99). No expansion pass.

So far, I've invested £80 into Destiny and a shitload of playing hours.

Now, the 'Legendary' edition, which includs Destiny, both expansions and The Taken King rocks up at a great price for new comers at £74.99.

If I want it, either shell out another £54.99 for The Taken King, or go fuck myself.

I honestly think, if I'm a dedicated Destiny player, why wasn't I offered The Taken King for free? Or maybe a token offer of £20 for being a dedicated player... Grinding away, week after week.

Personally, I really enjoy Destiny and have lost many-o-nights defeating The Fallen, The Hive, The Vex and The Cabal. But I'm on the fence now thinking the way we've been shoved to the back of the line whether to totally fuck Destiny off and invest more time into the promising new Metal Gear Solid (now on MS consoles, Woohoo!) Instead.

Thoughts?

Have you thrown more of your hard earned cash at Destiny? Is so, why?!

Do you not care its cost you probably £120 to keep up?

That is a lot of money for any game. Is it really that good at its initial price pre expansion packs ????

One of the most annoying changes for Year Two is that the previous 2 DLCs have now become 'Legacy' and are pretty pointless/obsolete.

At its original price on release, Destiny was a great game... Right up until 14th September when all the boffins at Bungie fucked it all up by doing what they have for this large upgrade to The Taken King.

The gear you get from the DLCs, if you now own TTK are far from impressive and even the missions can be done with your eyes closed. They've made them far too easy to complete.

In my opinion, its corporate greed at its very finest. Fueled by Activision.

The Legendary Edition, in layman's terms means you can buy Destiny 1, 1.2, 1.3 & Destiny 2 for £74.99.

If you've played it for ages. You cannot simply buy TTK as an upgrade (yet). You have to invest in the whole series again (depending on which edition you buy (collectors or legendary) Which could end up costing £160 if I decided I wanted to... I aint!

I love the naming of the 'Collectors Edition'. What a load of shit that is... I WAS a Collector!

My m8 bought it who I game share with. But I have the disc for Destiny....

I cant play without the disc so dont know what the £70 was for....

Its decent but feel robbed if I bought it myself.

I got it but another on game share so £20 each, finding it interesting if somewhat complex at the moment but although it is expensive I will certainly get my monies worth, the new raid was released today so waiting to level up a bit more and have the real hardened gamers do a few videos so we know wtf we are doing

For me it's simple the hours I play the game makes it more than value for money, I have paid £40 plus for a game that has given me 10 hours or less of play and not really enjoyed it that much finding it more of a case of getting to the end rather than enjoying the process, I have already got more play time and enjoyment from the Taken King than I would have from a full retail release.

£40 for an expansion taking the piss, they are rinsing what they can out of the players but do I say fuck that even though I really enjoy the game and get weeks of enjoyment and play out of it not at all as I am really just cutting off my nose to spite my face plus if you game share as I do it's £20.

Exactly I did enjoy it, I didn't find the multiplayer TDM etc that appealing and just liked the strike missions but I haven't put the hours in like you and Black Belt so paying twice more for the game isn't for me? The amount you could spend on Destiny would pay for my soon to be delivered Elite controller ;-)

I share with me bro and unfortunately that's a 1 way system as he always too skint to buy any games :-(

After reading what some of you have said about this situation, I have to confess, I have put a shitload of time and effort into Destiny and still enjoy playing, although really do struggle on some of the harder levels as building a fireteam is a true PiTA!

I have never complete a Raid or a nightfall strike! Yet I am now a level 40!

I decided to weigh in and buy TTK (hypocrit?) For £23 (thanks Singapore). Mostly because I've invested nearly 600 hours of my life into it.

gamesharing? how dose this work?

Game sharing has something to do with having a 'Home' Xbox and sharing as you would with a family member. You can state you are closely related and share your game library with that person.

IE, if you bought GTA5, rather than buying another copy for your son, Xbox allows you to share it with him on his own Xbox.

600!! Rookie i think the amount of work put in makes the DLC well worth it I've played this game more then anything else my work mates laugh we bought a Destiny machine not a game console

Technology is always expensive at the beginning, you want something first you pay the price. I won't be buying a PS4 until Fallout GOTY edition comes out.

I'm most definitely up for creating a Raid team. Ive been through the Kings Fall Raid once and know the drill mostly, but am yet to kill Oryx.
