Question Advice - Family Hol To Florida

    Hi,

Thinking of going to the above year after next and would like any advice from those who have been around the best way of doing this as in flights/accommodation/transport/theme park tickets.

We've looked at the usual suspects (Virgin) and think it would probably be cheaper doing it by ourselves so wondered if anyone has been and had any suggestions as to how best to do it.

    Any help appreciated.

    Alan

Was there 20 years ago but I doubt if much has changed. Only booked a hotel for the first night in Orlando and had a look around for hotels when out there. Plenty of choice. Moved around for the first week booking one night hotel stops over the phone. Had a day at Daytona bike week followed by a couple nights in Miami and then across the Everglades to Naples and Tampa before coming back around to Orlando for the second week where I played one hotel against another, which was across the road, and had a great deal with breakfast thrown in as well.
Plenty of ticket deals to multi theme parks on sale at the mall which can save quite a bit on the individual entry prices. Absolutely loved it out there. (">

I would suggest DIY. I priced it earlier in the year for august, not enough money. Have a look on DIbb forum, plenty of help and dicks, wish they knew forum etiquette

You know what I've just booked a road trip from LA up the coast, we got it tailored to our needs by dialaflight and it worked out cheaper then the major airlines, that's including Dreamliner flights out and car rentals so maybe call them.

I went in May/June this year with my wife and 2 kids. This was the third time we've been and we've always had a villa. The villa we had this time was about 10 minutes drive from Disney and maybe 20 minutes from Universal. We got a flights and car with BA in their sale which ended up costing us £500 per person. I think the villa was £1400 ish for 2 weeks and we also got a ticket bundle which had unlimited access to both Universal and Disney which was around £1600 for all four of us. A couple of things to bear in mind - If you go in the school holidays it will be rammed but if you get your head round the fast pass system you should get on everything. Also, you can now book your fast passes thirty days in advance (sixty days if you stay at a Disney hotel) on a first come, first served basis. There are only a limited number of passes for each ride on any one day so it's worth getting in early. Only trouble is, you need your park tickets before you can book and you'll struggle to get your tickets delivered to the UK. It's also worth checking out Disney dining plans. They're pretty good value and it may make a Disney hotel more affordable. Finally, get yourself a Disney photopass before you go. It cost about $160 but it basically gives you access to all the ride photos and all the photographers dotted around the parks. You also get a few videos thrown in too. I think we ended up with 600+ photos which you can download straight to your PC. Like this....

Thanks all. This has been on our bucket list if you like for a while but pricing it up on the usual suspects websites had put us off price wise (First Choice/Virgin). Friends of ours were on about booking this for the year after next and said 'we didnt get much change out of £10,000' which even though they have booked for 3 weeks (2 in disney, 1 to chill) it still seemed mega expensive - albeit they were staying in a Disney hotel. Can you book that far in advance? Would make it easier on the pocket.

    Hey Scal
I've just booked our family hols for next year. the best deal i got was to book Air lingus. It saved us about 700 quid and also includes the "no faffin about" at the other end in customs! We have been three times before you will have a blast!
