Weird Kodi And The Beast Woes

Is it just me, I'm running Kodi 15.1 and I've tried also with 14.2 and The Beast last 4 versions but I'm no longer able to install any addons ! I noticed it a while back with Mikey's Karaoke having dissapeared (good bit of fun when you've had a few beers and believe your a better singer than the original artist !) I tried re:adding under music addons, hit install and it just reverts back and does nothing, so I thought well is it just that addon but no, it appears to be with any addons, beit Video, Music, Programs etc ..... nothing will install, I also noticed that nothing will update either, looking at lots of updates under system and not one will update. I've been updating The Beast each time thinking this'll sort it but it never does, so today I completely removed Kodi from the PC via add/remove programs and all remaining Kodi reminent folders, even went through the registery deleting all Kodi references, rebooted and did a totally clean fresh install of Kodi/The Beast and bugger me it's still the same, It cant just be me can it? has any of you any ideas, is the same happened to you? your views and input would be appreciated.

Why don't you try installing Isengard and add the addons you're having trouble with, manually. See if you have any better luck.

Forgot to add, it was 14.1 Helix and was and still is 15.1 Isengard. I used to use the method you suggested for Firestick but then came along The Beast and it makes it all so simple, install and it's all done, everything is there, also now only use the PC as it's hooked upto the TV and even easier with the keyboard. I just like the simplicity, no more searching for the repo's/sources/zip files etc to find the addons, just click n play, well not in my case granted !

Yeah, I get that. I use Black Kodi on my Firestick for the TV but prefer to fanny about myself occasionally so have a vanilla Isengard on my tablet.
I just suggested you try the vanilla route to see if you have more success with the addons. If you can get them running then perhaps you have an issue with the way you have The Beast configured. Are you using a BT router with smart setup by any chance?

No TalkTalk Router. I've reinstalled Isengard 15.1 and Xunity repo and then Mikey's Karaeoke and that all worked fine, then I thought oh sod it and installed The Beast from the 06.10 and bugger me it's all working, I must admit I've not changed anything on The Beast, but to be fair I only deleted the porn out of the mens section and selected none for those stupid widget things, oh and turned off that annoying mp3 playing everytime you start kodi, thats all I'll try now doing them one by one and see if any causes the problem !

There's probably been some files/reg entries reset with the fresh install. From what I've read, The Beast runs best on 14.2 so that might be worth bearing in mind.

I prefer the fusion installer to the beast. The beast has a lot of things on it but I only really wanted Genesis, Phoenix, prime wire, salts and navi x so it did the job. Can't be arsed with all the live tv that seems to break every 5 minutes.

It's the live TV for me, I don't really watch movies. CcloudTV, Pak India and whatever Stalker mod is currently working satisfies my thirst for the UK and US Discovery and Nat Geo channels. Oh and the various $ky channels.

Are you referring to a Firestick/TV or PC version? either way you should be able to go to the Chrisbwizard and select The Beast in there, it should download and install the latest version ! Now I have to say that the only way I have been able to update on the PC version is to obtain a copy of the latest exe for windows file and just install straight over the top and for the Firestick/Tv again the Chrisbwizard has never worked for me on these either, in fact I've just tried it on a Firestick to no avail ......... for this I've had to completely reset the Firestick and install kodi and then add the Chrisbwizard repo and install The Beast as a fresh install, long process I know but the only way I've been successful.

If you are using firestick I think you can update from within kodi at the ChrisB wizard tab. If you are using Windows you need to do a fresh install each time.

Like Sie I am going back to vanilla kodi with the few repos I use. Tried beast for couple of weeks now, but it's just too bloated for what I use.

After reading around and playing about I finally got it to update the Firestick, you need to go to the Chribwizard Tab and select The Beast, then it will download and unzip the file and install, Now this bit is very IMPORTANT otherwise it will fail, when it says it has completed and you must close kod, you must just pull the power from the Firestick and give it 30 seconds before powering it back up, it sounds drastic but you have to do it ! if you don't it simply will not work. Incidentally this may have to be applied for windows versions also, except I would just terminate the whole program at the end of the instsall, next update I will try it and see if it works.

For those of you that might be suffering from the same fate as me regarding not getting any updates, as per the beginning of this thread then here is the solution:

    For Windows

Navigate to C:\Users\Les\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\Database (Obviously a different username) and delete Addons16.db and Addons19.db then restart Kodi. Alternately if you are running Kodi 15.1 then remove and reinstall Kodi 14.2

    For Firestick/Tv

Navigate to System/File Manager/Profile Directory/Database and delete Addons16.db and Addons19.db then restart Kodi. Alternately if you are running Kodi 15.1 then remove and reinstall Kodi 14.2
