Are people installing the beast KODI or adding the add-ons separately? I don't get much time to watch stuff any more so just dl eps and watch when I am free but would like to have a play and set a box up that I can take away with me.

i have a T8 quad core set up using wookie pro

have set up the skin to my needs, and have it all saved to usb in case i need to run the wizard

my main addon is a £4 a month paid sub Offside Streams...that takes care of all my HD sports

Genesis although it's went downhill a bit is still decent for films, tv, boxsets etc

The Mutts Nutts is brilliant for 1080p films

    Sportsdevil for my 3'oclock football

    good box but pricey

all in all its running sweet just now

It's a bit of a wild card and an expensive solution but have you considered an android TV from Sony or Philips? They have native KODI and Plex apps built in and a single remote that works everything. I've got Kodi (Genesis/ambilight) installed on my Sony and its been rock solid for months.

Okay so my MXQ box came today.

Fired it up and its all okay so far, most stuff worked okay. As usual all the apps are advert ridden, kodi has a load of add-ons that have more dead links than working ones. The kodi install is a bit shit, I will pull it and install a better one like black box or something. Try and force the theme BB mentioned in the other thread.

Main menu system is basic and works well. Remote is better than others I've used despite being a shit IR one. For £27 I agree its a bargain, but now I have to make something the oldies will be happy with!

Will post more when I've had time to mess about with it more.

Plug the adaptor in 1 of the spare usbs and you have a full qwerty type experience.

That Android box is well cheap, I'd never go back to a PC now. Gone are the days of WMC.

For those with a RPI2, I'll upload my SD card image (2Gb) over the weekend to Mega so you can try it yourself. It has Genesis, Mutts Nutts and (when it's working with a valid MAC address) Live TV + Sky Movies + Sports.

I've customized it so that it is 'wife-friendly'.

No need to blow a load of cash on a PC these days!

    Thanks to crazyal

I'm in two minds to get one that takes AAA's or the one with a rechargeable battery.

They aren't Bluetooth though are they?

they are wifi. , just plug the small adaptor in one of the slots and its all plug and play. The battery inside is a BC-6 or something same as they use in Nokia phones and lasts forever. I charged mine up the first time for 12 hours and I haven't turned it off as it goes into sleep mode when not in use.

I got the rechargeable one and it last ages between charges. They are all 2.4Ghz and come with a tiny USB dongle.
Personally I find you need a decent amount of space around the receiving box or I get interference e.g. Having to press buttons multiple times before it works.

The mouse touch pad square bit is pretty shit on mine too but tbh I never really need it.

Overall far, far better than the crap one they send with the box.

I am thinking of getting another also for a Christmas gift. there are a few that have advertised they are 4k. so will have to do sum research on this before buying. Watched a couple of films last night using the Phoenix App all in 1080p and they were real really good quality.

    Thanks to Mickey

Am i right in assuming that these android boxes will run any app that an android tablet could handle. ie Plex?
Need a decent plex client to replace my old apple tv 2.

Be careful some plaster a 4K logo on the packaging but if you do a bit of research it turns out they just support downscaling 4K content and do not actually support playing it.
    Sneaky bastards.

Offside Streams seems to be £10.99 a month now or am I looking at the wrong site?

I find my white nowtv box quite sluggish with rarflix. Are the newer ones significantly faster / better?

Don't get me fucking started on plex on ATV 2.

It used to work great until last week, when I updated couch surfer pro for some stupid reason( never even used the bloody app). The atv2 restarted and plex and xbmc had gone[emoji35] [emoji35] .

Spent the last 3_days trying to get it back. Impossible unless I use Plex connect, BUT that won't work if your PMS is on a windows 2011 server n54l.

Plex isn't on atvflash black anymore. So I'm going to put it on ios 5.3 jb, stick Kodi on it and stick it on eBay.

    Very pissed off tbh.
