    moan Bollocks Bollocks Bollocks !!

    Why does something always go wrong when your strapped for cash ? been saving for a few weeks to purchase a dehumidifier as I've started to suffer from severe condensation around the window frames lately and the dreaded mould is starting to make an appearance ! poxy weather is right weird at the moment, been here for 3 years and never suffered from this before ! anyway just got enough saved and made the purchase today on Amazon, £150 lighter and now extremely skint, but feeling good, well that is until I switched the oven on to cook some dinner for me and my Daughter and the poxy cooker went bang ! cooker tripped switch in consumer unit, so I thought reset and see what happens? 30 seconds later, Bang ! Bloody beans on toast for dinner and for the forseeable ...........

    Regards

    Send the humidifier back and get a new one, then buy a few of these, I've been using them and they are great

    You haven't got any ventilation in your house or flat, check air bricks or vents aren't blocked, it's a lot cheaper!

    The windows are shut more than they are open! New double glazing has vents to help with this.

    The mother in law had it, she had blocked the air brick at the front of the house and the floor air brick next to the gas fire, mould on the walls and on the leather 3 piece suite! Cost to sort very little, cost to re plaster a lot!

    I have thought about those and other similar items but I'm going to stick with the dehumidifier (desiccant type) so very qiuet and cheap to run ! it'll help get the washing dry indoors also : )

    I hear what you are saying but this has been fine for the last 3 Years ! I live near the sea and there is a lot of moisture in the air right now and clearly in my house, with windows ajar at night (this is when the heavy condensation occurs) so plenty of ventillation, but severe condensation happens, strange because some mornings I wake up and it's absolutely fine, It's all about RH (Relative Humidity) greater than 50% at a certain temperature ! a dehumidifier will draw the excess water from the house and lower the RH and all will be fine .......

    Its worth checking the following;

    Air bricks, window vents, bathroom extractors, washer/dryer vent pipes. If you have a gas boiler make sure the flu is sound and the condenser pipe hasn't been restricted.

    Make sure the dehumidifier isn't on the same circuit as the oven, that could be causing the fuse tripping.

    Yep its an English Electric Lightning.

    Going onto the cooker..

    Mine recently went Pop and it turned out to be the heating element in the oven.

    Simple to remove, test with a multi-meter and £6 later I had a replacement part from Amazon which worked superbly.
    I did hit one snag.. After replacing the element the oven had power but would not work. The cause.. I had not set the clock!
