    Default New to this stuff

OK so I am currently looking at the options of getting more on my non smart TV, I have a chrome cast the original one which was fun for a bit but with the likes of amazon fire and now tv boxes what are my options and what can I do with them?

I even have an asus revo somewhere at home but never did anything with it.

So what can I do that doesn't require a subscription? can the chrome cast do anything or should I buy a now tv box? or an amazon fire stick? probably going to be getting amazon prime at some point for top gear or what ever the new Clarkson/Hammond/may thing will be called.

    Thanks

I use my Revo for Kodi in my room with an SSD installed and an ethernet connection over 1200Mbps homeplugs to play media stored on my server. I think the sticks can run it now as Android is supported but I haven't tried it myself yet, I want to set up a fully loaded FireTV stick with Kodi so I can take it around with me but haven't had time to see if this is possible or not yet.

I plumb for the android TV boxes currently about £30 on fleabay. It streams all the stuff you want with no real hassle

Yeah a fire stick with Kodi and the beast build will work and can be set up in around 30 mins. A revo with Kodi installed would also work.
One thing I have noticed is that I turned the fire stick on for the first time in ages and noticed it had missed a load of updates updates seem very regular.

Just seen Mickeys post, for £30 just grab an android box from fleabay. It's the same price (or maybe £5 cheaper) as the firestick and will be less restricted, although I don't think there is a prime video app yet on android, (could be wrong, never looked tbh).

I also have a Revo conncted via 1gb Ethernet, although the router don't support 1gb I have two other Revo's connected around the house and file txfer and streaming to and from is excellent ! main living room is hooked up to Panasonic 50" via hdmi and loaded with Kodi and The Beast, I rarely watch standard UK Tv as Streaming and the Internet are much more appealing.

Can anyone clear this up please...

My pal has an android box or something (marvin add on) and he reckons he watched this film in 1080p. I'm on the NZB's and can only see a SD screener
Watched Creed in SD screener was ok, but SD ain't HD

Can anyone answer that one please
