Have built hundreds of PC's over the last 20 years. Personally won't touch AMD due to overheating issues and the monstrous fans you need to stop it happening.

Another question I had was how do you go about choosing a cpu cooler?

The bigger the quieter usually. Seriously do get a silent one or it will do your head in. With Intel cpu's you really don't need to go nuts.

There are all in one liquid coolers which are worth consideration too, if you just want a cheap cooler then the Arctic freezer 7 pro is very cheap and comes recommended most places.

I have a cooler master seidon 120V (I think) and its great, its one of the cheaper ones but its adequate for my i5 4590.

If I game or do any video encoding it gets a little loud, but nothing you wouldn't expect really.

If your case can accomodate, get one of the ones with 2 x 120mm fans on, should be quieter and cooler, given the chance I'd go that route.

If you want to really go for it you can get coloured liquid cooled set-ups that have LEDS to really shout "NERD ALERT"

nice, with 16 gb of DDR4 2666 or 3000, and a decent GPU youll be all set for ultra hd gaming, at least 1080p, if not 4k GPU dependant

    Thanks to pickie

You could probably get more than you paid for it in the right "niche" market.

Are G.Skill a good make of memory? And is there advantage of going for 4 x 4gb over 2 x 8gb or vice versa?

In currently looking at their Ripjaw V Series...

g.skill is a good brand I think mines still in this gaming pc, must check

2x8 will possibly be better as less power consumption and room to upgrade later
