I think it's real as the exploit I heard of sounds quite simliar to the Nintendo WiiU and DS websploits.
Firmware V2 and below have the exploitable browser so I heard (on gbatemp forums while I was looking into the WiiU hack)

    Thanks to Hippie on hill

Cturt's github and twitter feed are quite an interesting read

I think he's used the WebKit and some homebrew tools to dump some RAM and found a way into the kernel.

I don't have a GayStation 4 and was waiting to get on XBone but will hold off a bit longer now to see if a hack for M$ comes about.

A software based exploit is always better than getting out the soldering iron imho (which I am shit at)

Would prefer an XBOX as the last 2 Playstations have gone completely unused for our family. XBOX has always since the original XBOX had so much more use by me the wife and kids.

Just worked for some reason. The PS always felt cheap and tacky.

Everytime the PS gets a hack of some description, Sony shut it down. Therefore I wouldn't hold your breath that this one will remain exploitable for long.

Modchip all the way, Especially Dual Nand.. Best of both worlds then. normal nand to play online and hacked nand for everything else.

Only decent Softmod was the Wii.. all the rest have been pretty poor.

Interesting but these sort of announcements around Christmas time are usually fake - usually. Also with the amount of connectivity that is needed with the current generation of consoles I think a software exploit would more or less be useless.. games devs have for some time been trying to find a way to stop piracy and I think the way they are doing this is by making sure their games have an online element that is the primary part of the game.

I've got stuff for using as a media player (plex) and I have enough Raspberry PIs to build a small server farm so don't really have a use for a jailbroken PS4 but who knows what they can come up with - it's always the stuff that you never thought of that makes these things special

I'll believe it when i see it, but it would be nice to see an Xbone and PS4 hack, i miss the old days of flashing 360's and exploiting PS3's

Well I have an xboxone so im out lol. But I have to be honest I wont mod my xboxone as I find I have had more enjoyment out of this system and my last 360 which I didn't mod (Had 3 in total 2 of which I modded before they RROD on me). I find that just buying a few games per year results in me sticking with a game. When I mod a console I always ended up with a pack of games sitting by the console and never getting "into" any of them. All the media streaming is now taken care of by other means.....I just don't see any need now apart from the tinkering element.

Good luck to any1 looking for a 1.76 console, I doubt there's many out there still altho I guess its slightly more likely than a downgrader appearing in the near future.
