    Default Freesat Recording Recommendations

We currently have a Sky HD box (WiFi) and an active Sky sub. Whilst we are enjoying the Plex server for movies we don't want to go down the CS route for our Live TV.

My understanding if we cancel our Sky TV Sub (Will be 12m soon) it will effectively become Freesat and we will be able to access the FTA channels on the existing HD box, but won't be able to record anything - is this correct?

If yes I'm looking for recommendations on a box that can allow us to view and record the FTA channels if possible, I'd pay a bit more for a quality box with good remote and smooth GUI.

    Any thoughts?

You can pick up a cheap TalkTalk box off eBay. Been using one for ages. Works well albeit a little slow at time for catch-up

Would this use FreeView? Would we get more channels using Satellite?
