Is it a stand alone thing is it an add on ??? I really like the concept but the website is fucking awful and actually telling you anything meaningful .

its an add on and you need a good mid to top end pc to run it.

    i5 8gb ram gtx970.

I really did enjoy flying aces in the early 90's and would love to give VR another go, if I cant get on with the games then it could be
used as a nice cinema screen experience as it will give that big screen feel and in 3D as well.

I know some on here tried the dev kits and wondered if they were taking this next step.

Got an i7 so that is good to go, but information on exactly what it is gonna do is very limited. You can get more info from google than their own website. PR department needs an arse kicking.

I want to be excited about it but want more information and demo's from the creators.

Thanks for the post though, hopefully more info will come out in the next week.

got one of the developments kits that was released a while back, not my thing, makes me feel sick as a pig
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I spent an evening using one of the DK2 units and while it was a lot of fun, the novelty soon wore off. It's good for simulation games like racing/space/flight etc, but try it with something like Alien Isolation (which you'd think would be perfect) and you'll be suffering from motion sickness in no time. At least I and my two mates were.

Also, the DK2 was only in 1080p and that took (what was at the time) a beast of a machine to run games with decent graphics at a good rate. So if the retail units are 2k as suggested, I'd be amazed if an i5/GTX 970 combo would run a game smoothly and trust me when I say that if a game running fairly fluidly makes you queasy, then one juddering all over the place would be just awful.

Too soon and too expensive for this tech IMHO. Give it a few years when we can have two 4k @ 144hz screens attached to your bonce running on a 500 quid PC and I'm in.

Hope I'm wrong though! As it would be awesome if my evening in a holosuite with Major Kira fantasy came true before I died!

    Thanks to CominAtcha

one of the problems we found was that if you were using equipment that could not supply the correct FPS (i.e. shit graphics card) then the motion sickness was x10

I remember a few years back there was interest in VR and the overwhelming consensus then was that for FPS you need to stop any of the "head bobbing" features. They are not needed when using a VR headset and cause motion sickness. On a monitor/display these features work by making it feel more like you are moving naturally. This is an effect you can see if you play Gears of War in 3D and try running. God awful!

I agree with the above the sensation when you first put it on is fantastic especially on the likes of half like and that was with a dk1, but I could only cope for about 10 minutes until I felt like i was going to spew.

I thought a lot of the development was going towards easing the motion sickness? If they got rid of that I'd give it another go.

Must be using a port for power and three for data? Like cominatcha says Specs must be bare minimum as well because that spec and gonna push em at 2k I would think. Still great bit of kit and the geek in me is fine with stopping ever 15 minutes for a vom break lol

Using 4 USB ports if fucking ridiculous . Surely they should have made a specific PCIe card for connecting and the 4 USB idea as a backup . Who has 4 usb's free without unplugging stuff you may not want to.

Yes I know you can get a PCIe USB addin card but having to connect all those connections seems a poor idea to me. Maybe there is a specific reason for this.
The rest of the specs don't seem too extreme but as I assume the dollars will translate into pounds I think £600 seems very steep.

£529 delivered if you want one. I've got a dk2 which runs perfectly on my i5 with a 970gtx. The new sdk's have really sorted out the juddering. Project cars works natively and is simply awesome using the rift. I played a bit of eve Valkyrie a couple of months ago which looked amazing. I expect you to die is a great tech demo to show off the potential.

Great tech but pricey atm. Only to be expected though for early adopters. Plus they have to honour the original Kickstarter deals.
