Default Star Wars - A New Hope - Silver Screen Edition

I don't know if you guys noticed this but I've seen it up on a few news sites lately.

Basically a group has scanned an entire 35mm film release of the original 1977 Star Wars film and released it as a 1080P MKV and it has literally taken years for them to be happy to release it (the thread started in 2012 and it was released four weeks back!)

This is the proper original version and not the bastardised special editions!

    Lots of details over here:

    There's a news article here.

    http://www.ew.com/article/2016/02/16...s-restore-1977

It was released to various places around the 16th / 17th Jan but I'm guessing with all the attention it's now getting it may disappear quickly via takedowns etc.

    Thanks to reverend

That's not in the public forum mate - is that the despecialized or the Negative1 version?

What do you guys think? I've watched the first ten minutes and was well impressed - I read there's potential of a 4k TESB too!

Ah ok, didn't know it was vip only.

I watched it as soon as I got it and it took me right back to my youth. It's a bit grainy compared to the bluray but that's the whole appeal for me. I grew up watching it on VHS so no difference there really.

The work they've done is amazing. If you got the full release you'll have all the comparison videos along with it, that's a lot of effort getting it looking good.
