I've had a ps4 since launch and not really turned on by it, to me there needs to be something special now as gaming is just going round in circles.

As Czar pointed out VR is coming and I'm hoping it changes gaming for the better, the ps4 will be there but will the Xbone?

I know if I was buying a console now I would hang on to see if Sony can deliver.

Xbox one owner who has played on a PS4 multiple times and can't tell the difference if I'm honest. The online side is far superior on the xbox though I will say that.

My concern with VR on consoles is that it might do more damage than good to VR as a whole.
If you look at the specs required for these high end VR units I just can't see how a console will do it justice.

500GB will get eaten up in a hurry. You can of course add an external . So long as you don't mind doing that, as you say it is a bargain.

I have an Xboxone. I would say it fulfils my ever dwindling gaming needs at the moment. That's the trouble, Every other generation that came out gave us something new in terms of innovation, graphics, gameplay and home entertainment all in a box. This generation has given us nothing of note, nothing to get us gamers who have been the bunch who grew up with the atari ect....we have been so used to innovation that we seem to be a little underwhelmed by the latest offerings.
I think when VR gets going (still think it will be a few years yet due to people experiencing motion sickness ect when using these things in trials) - but yes that's the next big thing....until then an xboxone does what it does well.

Just my 2p but with regards to VR, I don't see it really being properly embraced by either side of console this generation.

I may make it a consideration next gen but it's way too early imho

At this stage I feel we would all be just beta testing for them.

Mrs brought me a xbox one for xmas, I love it, ticks all the boxes for me and the live side is very good, not spent too much time on a ps4 but can't really tell you any vast differences between the two that really stand out. That said ask a Sony fan boy and wait for the 1001 reasons why ps4 is better.

Thought the same and got the rare replay package with the console... Bit of a let down really although maybe not given it chance. Kids love it and to be fair it is cheap as fuck so maybe I was expecting a bit much.

A different kettle of fish but I bought an nvidia shield around Christmas time mainly for the 4k capability but I also thought it would be great to have a fairly new gaming system again. As expected after the initial flurry of gaming I now mainly use it for video content. Might have a bash on half life 2 tonight though. In mitigation I have been doing a lot of other stuff on evenings & weekends that has limited the time available for slouching playing games.

You're right about tablets I own a couple and don't use them much unfortunately. I bought the shield TV. Nice thing.

Just bought Xbox one with one downloadable game for £249 locally (it's the same price just about everywhere) and picked up halo 5 for £20

Just got to decide which "free" game to get now out of...

Gears Of War Ultimate Edition, Forza Motorsport 6, Rise Of The Tomb Raider or Rare Replay

Out of those the one which will keep its price for longest will be Forza 6 (so will be ages til you can download a t a decent price) but for me the Tomb Raider reboot is pretty awesome ;-)

Depends if you want 2 shooters tho really

Forza is looking most likely I must admit. I've never been much of a tomb raider player although the gears game might interest me.
