Ive opted for PS4 purely down to Uncharted 4. PC for the bulk of gaming nowadays.

So, I've set it up, signed in and I'm hit with updates straight away. 1.5GB for the system and a whopping 25GB for Halo 5 !

This is one of the things that pissed me off about ps4. It seemed that every time it got turned on, there was an hour's worth of updating to do first.

Won't help you right now, but goto power options in settings and choose the one that's not power save (instant on I think).

From now on if an update is pushed, your Xbox will download it while you are out.

Another one here that has both but the Xbox gathers the most dust.

So, If I set the option for quick start (so that it can update when off), I can turn it off via holding the home button and it'll get the updates it needs ?

I have it getting the Halo update now (20 odd GB) and I want it to get it overnight.

I can't believe I've had this thing for 6 hours and haven't played a single game yet !

Also, does anyone have a list of good FPS games for this console ? I don't really like any with a RPG element, just straight up shooters really.

    Cheers,

    Malty

Yeah that's why there are a few threads on here ask whats the best USB3 HDD to get for the xbox1, you will need a decent sized one I got a 2tb one personally but do digi download all games.

Hopefully halo has updated itself overnight and I can actually play something today, a whole day after buying it ;-)

I will probably look at getting a hard drive soon. Do they have to be anything special or will any usb3 had do ?

    Thanks

Yeah anything just has to be USB 3.

I remember when bought my xbox one and came with Forza 5 on disc, when put it in was a 15gb download :-( that's why just get digi downloads now as they patched when download rather than disc being out of date and then needing patched.

If you want a hand with Halo then me and InspectorColey are pretty handy ;-)

On the first day when I got my xo, it did all of its updates and decided to update the controller, only having the one it came with thought nothing about it, did as it was told left it alone while updating and it failed.
Press a to continue. How can I when I now won't communicate with the console? Then I can't remember if I read it or the console suggested to use a USB cable.
I thought the same, can't use it due to updates I didn't want right now.

    PS4 all day long.....

Umm because most of my friends have and play on ps4 if I had more on xone then I would go for one of them - gameplay wise pretty much no difference betwen them apart from exclusive titles of which there are not may of these days. Borrowed an xone to play Halo will play Uncharted on PS4 etc etc

    Thanks to prezzy

Mine did the same Maltloaf when it arrived Monday. Update for OS and update for pretty much every game but that seems to be it. Hasn't done any updates since and had no issues.

    Loving it so far.

Been raiding the bargain bins, got Destiny brand new sealed for £9.96, Battlefield Hardline preowned for £10 and Titanfall preowned for £8

Haven't played any of them yet. What decent FPS have I missed ?

Will check out Far Cry 4 for sure thanks. Never been much of a GTA fan but might dip back in if I can find it reasonably priced.

Worth noting the season pass for titanfall is now free, so there is new maps etc.

Was never really a GTA fan, but had lots of fun playing through the story on GTA V.

For a tenner I can't recommend the binding of Isaac enough. It's the game I am playing the most just now

Had a bit of a shaky start with Halo. Didn't like the opening action at all, there was something decidedly un-halo about it, but now I'm a bit further on it's definitely Halo and I'm loving it.

Played the first half hour of Battefield Hardline yesterday, seems ok but haven't got to the meat of the game yet.

I've also set my 'free' game downloading, which is Forza 6. Another 20 odd GB on my lowly 12Mb adsl

I wish they would hurry and get fibre around here !

Halo 5 is the best halo since 2. It's rare I play anything else these days. They hit it right on the nail with the new arena maps and game types.
