    Question excel help

ill try to explain this best i can

I have a caravan i hire out and want to do a excel sheet where i can select the holiday start date and return a price based on the dates selected.
I have worked out a base price that i want and then the nightly cost on top. date lengths would be a friday (3 or 7 nights) sat ( 7 nights) or monday (4 or 7 nights) start.
Dates being unavailable when they have already been booked would be something id be looking to have as well.

Can it be done and how is it done?

Presumably the prices will vary from week to week - main season etc?

A second sheet with the dates and then prices which is referenced from your selected date using a vlookup

    Thanks to hoponbaby

Yeah that's right. Was thinking maybe setting each day as a price so it calculated the price over the days it used, but setting up a price for that particular break would be ok.

ive done a sheet with all the prices for the individual dates.
I have a calender. how do i use vlookup to link them? Think the best outcome would be a select start date. then a select break length. with a results box saying availability and price.
I been looking all day and just cant seem to find help on what i want to do.

Try index & match instead of vlookup ... more flexible.

doesnt seem to work for me

was thinking might be best for it to a calender and the you select the start date and it displays the price for the 3, 4 or 7 night stay.
i would have to be able to change each date to booked or not and it then only shows unbooked dates.

ive worked out stay prices now instead of daily rates if that easier.

    Know what i mean?

What doesn't work, change start date and end date in sample range and will total the cost of booking and if booked = 1 then will say its booked?
So it should display 02 Jan 2016 - 07 Jan 2016 which is £45 and is booked if you change end date to 06 jan 2016 then its £40 and not booked.

Not sure what you mean a calendar as there isn't a free calendar control in Excel :-( if you wanted a sheet for each month then is doable but what happen when swapping years etc? to do 3,4 and 7 days stays then would just offset start date by 3,4 or 7 depending which is chosen from a data validated list ;-)

    Thanks to akimba

I've added a few formulas (not great but they do the job) to Akimba's spreadsheet. You can use the camera function in excel to view changes to the 'calendar' in real time.
