Evening,
I've got a new job and I've been provided with a nice new laptop. It is a nice thin thing and it came with a port extender that connects to what I now know is a thunderbolt port. The port extender is a hefty little thing but is my only means at the moment of having a VGA port. Not usually a problem you'd have thought but most meeting rooms have a projector with a VGA cable sprouting from the table somewhere. What I'd like is a smaller lighter alternative to the port extender and to this end I've searched for thunderbolt to VGA. There are some nice & cheap ones available for about a fiver but say they are for apple devices. If I buy one will it work with my laptop, as in is there a standard? I'm OK to just buy one through work but I don't want to waste money unnecessarily on something that doesn't work. Thanks for any advice/reassurance.
Incidentally the laptop is the bollocks I didn't realise until I looked it up. It is a dell precision 5510, 4k touchscreen and SSD. Really nice thing.
