I've got it in my list to watch, might move it up a few places.
Watched this myself last night, some very funny scenes, over all not a bad film to give you a laugh
Watched it twice, once on my own 2nd with partner. She thought it was funny.
Well worth a laugh. cant wait for Grimsby 2
Just watched it , good laugh , loved the direction .
Good laugh, especially the elephant scene.....

This was an appalling film. Any one else apart from Sacha Baron Cohen making this and its a 1 out of 10 at best
Well, looked funny to me! Haven't watched the entire movie yet, but did watch the start...
all is i can say is the elephant, i was in stitches
watched about half an hour of it and just couldnt get into it so turned it off, was nursing a hangover at the time so will give it another shot at a later date
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.
I think you have to appreciate it for what it is. I don't think he was going for high art with this. There are some laugh out loud moments, anyone who doesn't find the elephant scene funny needs counselling.
There were some issues I found difficult to get over, such as when did Grimsby become a town in the North West? And who the fuck are Grimsby United?
Fucking Spoiler Alert
You won't get any argument from me on that. But I still need the child in me tickled occasionally, and long gone are the days when my 'Uncle' Roy used to do it while my dad was on the afternoon shift. I might email him my script for 'Miner V Minor'. It's like 'Kramer V Kramer' but more northern pit villagey and the kids are traumatised in a very different way.
I took it for what it was a proper piss take and was funny in parts but have to say I thought was no where near as funny as all the other of sacha's films IMO

Mixed reviews, I think that decent movies these days sit in the middle and then at the emotive extremes where we have the horror and comedy the movies just aren't really all that, probably because its just harder to be either funny or scary and original at the same time.
With movies in the middle like action and thriller maybe the lack of originality has less impact and these days we rely on clever twists and bigger bangs and cooler gadgets.
As a comedy I'd put this up against some of the recent dross coming for the other side of the pond, it had some originality about it and pushed the bounds of decency as british comedy should. I felt shock, horror and disgust while absolutely pissing myself at the poison dart and elephant scenes and was mildly amused/entertained by the rest.
What more would you want or even expect in this day and age?
As I'm sure many had been, I passed this movie quite a few times before finally grabbing it and watching. I was not disappointed and thought I'd share
Well watched it last night and went in with very low expectations. Thought it was funny and not that bad.
Granted he wont be queueing up for a Bafta but a made me lol on a few occasions.
Would have been happy if they left out that Rebel Wilson though. She is the only woman that makes me want to punch her lights out... unfunny annoying bitch.
Have seen much much worse
