Concert at the Etihad?

I'm off to see The Stone Roses on Wednesday at the Etihad in Manchester but I'm sat right at the back. Has anyone been to a concert there and what are the chances of getting into the standing area? Is it well policed? I don't fancy having to sit down all the way through plus Public Enemy are supporting too.

Im sat at the back too, this question was asked in a group on facebook. There was 2 answers that stick in my memory.
1. You have no chance , sit down and relax
2. Go to the bar then hang about for a good while then just wander to the standing area.
not sure if there is ant truth in 2, but you could always give it a go

I would say no.1 is correct will be too well marshalled.

the only thing you could hope for is that they get lax towards the end and you try your luck.

You could hide a Stewards Tabard (they going to be Yellow, Green or Orange) down your pants and whip it out once this started and pretend your working ;-)

All the major concerts I've been to for a very long time now have been well controlled you show your ticket to get into any section and get pointed in the right direction if you're in the wrong place - be very careful where places (like metro arena Newcastle) where they try to take your ticket off you when you nip out to the toilets - refuse and kick up a fuss cos there's no guarantee they will let you back in afterwards - on the other hand it's often worth trying to get into the standing areas in places as stupid as this just by turning up and saying you handed your ticket in as you went out for a piss

Yeah I went to see Kylie at the O2 but before hand we went into the Sky backstage section they took are tickets and gave us a wristband, but we had golden circle tickets but they gave us box standard wristbands.

We were herded into the Gen Pop area and I said this ain't right got a copy of me tickets up on the phone but none of the marshals cared said leave had to leave the event area and go cust services, which validated me online tickets agreed it a fuck up gave us our Golden Circle passes and we waved at the Gen Pop as we passed them by. We were that close I can still remember the smell her sweat now mmmm hehe

Might try a bit of bribery once I'm in. To be honest, I'm still bitter at the amount of standing tickets that were available on Getmein seconds after it had sold out.

Wow that was mint. They played a blinder and with Public Enemy supporting. Was on the pitch all night but my ticket was for there. How did you get on?

Yeah, fucking great night. Couldn't get on the pitch but only had a half hearted attempt. There were a couple of kids, about 15, sat next to us. They were trying out a few seats while it was empty. About 10 minutes later they rocked up on the pitch going absolutely nuts so it could be done. Loved this.....

Saturday was great. Public Enemy, meh. Roses were great. Yeah Ians voice ain't the best bit the atmosphere was great

People moan about Browns voice but it hasn't changed and shouldn't really surprise folk that he can barely carry a tune. Was it cold Saturday? His Own Brain t shirt on Wednesday made me think he can actually command letters of the alphabet.
