I've got both a firestick and fire to unit.
Both do what I need them too and both tick boxes for everything I wanted.

Firestick for bedroom mainly used for light streaming and plex via wifi.

Fire tv in living room wired connection and also spdif to my amp for optimum sound output and main box used.

Also use Xbox one for plex and Amazon prime if the notion takes me.

I have Kodi running on different versions, but I have been trying to get the EPG working.

We have 2 Amazon FireSticks running KODI 16.1 another one is running KODI 16.1 Release Candidate 2

I also have KODI on this desktop running under Windows 10 16.1 RC 3 - this is the one I am trying to get the EPG working on with PVR.

Plenty to watch on Kodi, don't even watch normal TV anymore, it's usually IPTV only!

From kodi on a mobile or pc
I've seen a few examples on YouTube, but can't figure out if there is an easy way.
I can get the xbox to see kodi via upnp / dlna, this shows folders where I guess I can play media saved on the mobile. I couldn't see if this allowed any streaming source to be played on the xbox one media player

I have been happy using a cheap and cheerful Raspberry Pi2 for about a year. It has OSMC as the os with Kodi being used daily ever since. My VU Duo hasn't been plugged in since and it is very rare I watch anything on terrestrial TV live. The only downside I find is addons come and go and sometimes you spend quite a bit of time finding a decent quality stream.

I'm very keen on finding a IPTV supply as that would take it to the next level!

I've been using the Amazon Firestick but I do experience some problems with picture quality and loss of sound half way through the programme.
Looking to update and thinking of the Nvidia Shield? any feedback or other suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks

Since the update before last kodi runs frustratingly slow on my shield TV. I did find a solution but couldn't be arsed to go through with it at the time.

Firesticks are £19.99 and Fire Tablet 7" £34.99 which I find great for Kodi for the kids to watch films when you add the case keyboard for around £5

I bought a Nvidia Shield, and while it's ok, I don't think it's worth the money. And the fucking controller is annoying as fuck in that it disconnects from the box on occasion and you have to restart the box for it to connect again.

It's the first android tv box I've used, so not sure if others are similar, but to get some apps on to it you have to d/l the apk as the App Store is locked down. For instance, I had to shoehorn my vpn app on to it, only after I'd got the apk direct from the vpn company.

If I was in the market for another Android TV box I'd certainly look at cheaper alternatives.

Finally saw what the big deal was all about the other day, these looks very interesting indeed

What would be the recommendation for top end box not stick but I'm not interested in 4k, just powerful smooth 1080p HD with all the features etc?
