    Tech 4K TV review

well i bit the bullet & got my self a 4K tv Today
Samsung UE50KU6000 to replace my 9 year old 50 inch Samsung Plazma (cost me 2K).
what a fantastic bit of kit, 4K is fekin amazing, just downloaded Deadpool 4K 39gb in size, picture quality was fekin amazing, netflx & youtube 4K fantastic.
only Bad point is sound quality is very week, sond bar is the next toy to add to it. for around £550 well worth the price, the app store is a bit limited but it see's my plex server with no problems right out the box.
comes with the freeview & HD. upscale works fantastic, im using plex & WD live tv box,
ps3 N Xbox one work great.
full upscale on every input, up scale on WD is realy good.
it looks so small compared to my old samsung plazma, as the old tv has very large frame round it.
old tv, Damn it weighs about 8 stone, new one weighs about 1 stone

How did you play the 4k rip ? Seems all the streamers I've used downgraded it to 1080p - only way i found of keeping it that way was to put it on a usb stick and plug directly in.

That is a bit of a minefield. You really have to read carefully as all these chinese sellers on the likes of AliExpress list them as 4K only to find that it plays 4K but as you say down scales it to 1080p.

Sound quality seems to be an issue with pretty much all sets these days. They seem to skimp on the sound to keep the cost of the unit down. Think this is why we are seeing an explosion in available sound bars on the market. I have a Panasonic 4k set in my living room and the sound is pathetic out of the unit. My Onkyo amp is in storage at the moment but when I move I'm getting some new speakers for that.

I think it is more to do with the minute size that TV's are now. You can't fit decent speakers in something so thin.

    Thanks to piggzy

Very true. I have a Panasonic 42" plasma in the bedroom - much thicker than my Panasonic LCD and the sound quality on that is pretty good and fairly bassy.
