Just leaving sky to join BT after 8 years of good service. Got a quality offer on an Unlimited Fibre 1 and anytime calls package. With £230 in prepaid cards and a phone sim too, I'm happy. Just hope it is as people say BT is!
Was with Sky myself for years and agree it was good service. BT's I have found to be just as good but the bonus I seem to be getting is that although I am subscribing to the same 80/20 package I had with sky, with BT it is often achieving well over 100mb down. I know BT are currently getting ready for the next speed increase, just try make sure the engineer fits the latest OpenReach NTE master socket (he most likely will anyway), this will allow the higher speeds for the future.
Good advice piggzy! I have opted to have a new line as the main cable comes through the wall where there's some extension connections where I can't identify which is the original input. No flat wall socket so think it's ancient! A new NTE master socket just behind the TV will do the trick nicely!
Spoke to a BT engineer last week as they were laying additional fibre lines for commercial use and he told me that BT are looking into extending fibre to the premises for commercial and residential customers. (">
This is part of a long term plan to push speeds up to 940meg by fibre to the house. Talk talk is running trials up north but no time scale for the rollout is indicated yet. I registered interest with them so should hear when it does happen.
It's acronym is FTTH (fibre to the house) https://www.ultrafibreoptic.co.uk/ takes you to a site to register interest but this one is for Sky and Talk talk
Bt are working on the same thing of course as it will be run through Openreach.

I've used plusnet almost 10 years and the last 3 over bt wholesale fttc. I've recommended it to dozens of people who rate it highly
The do shape traffic to prioritise voip gaming and certain traffic but that's about it
also they block far less sites than any other isp ive come across when using other wifi
if u decide to use them pm me for my handle so u can use me as the ref please
oh and their support is second to none, I work as a 3rd line network engineer and they haven't failed to impress.
bt are allready doing fttp in certain areas and i think once fttc is rolled out that will be coming out soon after, i know with fttp at the moment it does upto 330mbps but very few areas have it yet, there are also other companys like gigaclear that are offering fttp upto 1gbps to homes but they are very limited as there dont use any openreach wiring they have there own connections
I'm looking forward to getting just fibre sometime this year fingers crossed [emoji23]

Hi
I am currently using Origin Broadband and after a few teething problems at the start they are quite good, UK support i believe 24/7 and price is very reasonable.
