Default MacBook Pro 15" 2011 blank screen

My MacBook recently developed a fault where everything works except the screen.

Tried all the pram settings and 2nd display etc and the results are still with no screen display.

Hence I took it to Apple Store and had it checked and was told it needs a new logic board.

Is there any advice on how to repair it outside Apple Store on the cheap?

    Their prices are extortionate.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Falling short of buying 2nd parts off eGay and doing it urself (which I wouldn't recommend) or using a dodgy repair shop you may have to bite the apple and get Apple to do it.

Part of the problem really when you buy into the apple ecosystem.

Sell on Ebay as it is and get a new one.

Every time anything on my Apple hardware fails they always seem to say it's the "logic board" - had this quoted to me for an iPhone camera issue (Resolved by doing a iTunes restore myself), iphone microphone and even the screen (replaced screen and it fixed it).

I think the "logic board" is their default response when something breaks as they are expensive to replace so can recover plenty of money.

This is why if I buy another Apple I'll be buying from Costco - 5 year no quibble

It mainly is the logic board as they cram everything on to it.
I buy and sell imacs/macbooks and anything older than 4 yrs you run the risk of the logic board failing in some shape or form.

minefield getting the right board too as the revisions change quite often and they use dif connectors.

I have managed to get it repaired under a repair program.

    https://www.apple.com/uk/support/mac...o-videoissues/

Unfortunately the data on the hardrive is not backed up and the os won't boot.

Has any one got a boot installer for El Capitan?

I don't have another Mac only a Windows pc.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

I have installed the OS X onto a new hard drive and now have the MBP working, however now I need to recover files from old HD.

Is there any open source software that can recover/rebuild the HD?

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Hi again

I've used the free trial version from this guys to recover from a corrupted hard drive that would not boot up, anyway the free trial does not work with time limits only allows you to recover up to 2GB each time used!http://www.easeus.com/mac/mac-data-recovery/

Hope you get what you need from it.
