Default New home cinema speaker recommendations

Just moved house and am going to setup my home cinema setup again but my speakers (Mordant Short ms902's) got damaged in transit and they are a bit long in the tooth anyway so I'm after a new 5.1/7.1 setup.

Currently I'm rocking the Onkyo TX-SR875 amp which is still an awesome piece of kit in my opinion so I am after some speakers that will do it some justice.

Looking to spend ~£1000 max but think I can do this a lot cheaper as I don't need a sub. The problem that gets me the most with this amp is that Onkyo spec the 200W/ch minimum! From past experience this means that you need decent drivers to get sound out at lower volumes and at higher volumes it can quickly destroy a lot of speakers that are out there.

Any suggestions on what I should be looking at? Currently I'm drifting towards B&W but buy in phases (2.1 first and then add over a couple of months to get the full setup - pricey bits of kit but I know they are the real deal.

Thought about a soundbar instead? You could get a decent Yamaha soundbar for that money. I know it's not what you're after but they're superb bits of kit.

I'm using PMC DB1i speakers and DB1MCi centre,KEF ceiling speakers at the rear,BK XLS200DF with some Sony speakers at the sides for my 7.1 but think that may stretch your £1000 budget
I'd go with the B&W 685 home cinema setup:

Maybe buying the speakers off fleabay as and when?

I've looked into the Soundbar route but decided not for me. Even the high end Yamaha with dispersion to create a "true" surround stage still doesn't work as well as separated. If I was restricted I might go that route but prefer the fuller sound from separate speakers.

After doing quite a lot of hunting around the B&W 602's seem to be what I'm after and I can pick them up for around £100 a pair off fleabay or other auction sites. Love the mids from them and they really fill the room with sound.
