    Default 'kin windows 10

Just powered on my lappy after waiting 5 minutes to shut down last night because of "updates" to be greeted with an update screen with a warning it may take some time, ffs 30 mins and still waiting to fix something that was not broken, I only wanted to check my bank 30 second job, now I'm stuck waiting for "updates"

    Ok rant over.

There was a large update released just after the free update window closed so this is probably it.

looks like it. bloody windows... grumble... moan...

Looks like i have reached older age, a few years ago i'd embrace the latest update with baited breath, cant wait to see what's new, now its just an inconvenience and something new is a pain in the arse having to re learn new systems, and what was wrong with them crt monitors and windows 95.......

I'm off for a drive in my volvo 850 with a biscuit tin with boiled sweets in, it doing 22 mph because if i go any faster the excitement makes me wee a bit.

After that big update I found me pc had loads of problems and I was gonna wipe it, but after a few days it seems to have fixed itself so I'm guessing they must have pushed out an update to fix whatever they broke.

One big annoyance with Win 10 - I've had many times when I turn on the PC and just get a black screen for a few minutes, I'm guessing while it finished applying the last update.

Would be nice if the computer would let me know what it is doing, with a progress bar to give me a rough idea of how long it will take, and another constantly moving indicator (e.g. hourglass) to show the computer hasn't crashed.

But alas, this is progress, where a simple application like calculator now needs to be run as an online app instead of just having a local calc.exe.

    Thanks to Over Carl

so it tells me to click on start to see whats new,

windows accessories with a "new" label under it, so i click it and in there is internet explorer, so i click this new item, and sure enough ie loads and tells me to try using edge, what a great update that is.
