    Default Your car history.

Lets try to remember the old jalopies we used to own and try to post pics of them in the order you owned them, the approximate year and if you can get a pic with the right colour even better.

Having difficulties uploading photos so uploaded them all here - http://imgur.com/a/VZ7lf (Not my cars but same styles and colours)

    List below.

At the start of 2003 I bought my first car which was a 1994 VW Polo Fox
At the end of 2003 I sold the Fox and bought a 1998 Seat Ibiza
Mid-2004 someone drove into my Ibiza and wrote it off so bought a 1992 VW Polo Breadvan
Clutch went on Polo Breadvan after a month so I bought a brand new Corsa in 2004
By mid 2005 I hated the Corsa and bought my Dad's 2002 Seat Toledo 1.9 TDI - first diesel
Winter 2006 I had an accident on the motorway and wrote off the Toledo, bought a 2003 Ibiza TDI Sport 130 - best car I had
Winter 2008 my wife got pregnant with our first, sold the Ibiza and bought a 2004 VW Passat 1.9 TDI 130
Mid 2010 sold the Passat and with my company car allowance financed a Toyota Auris 2.0 D-4D
End 2010 I hated the Toyota diesel engine compared to VAG, traded in for a 2007 VW Passat SEL 2.0 TDI 170
Mid 2012 I was offered a good price from Arnold Clark on a 2009 Seat Leon FR TDI CR 170, got a briliant trade in so went for it.
Mid 2014 the DPF was acting up on the Leon so ordered a new BMW 116i (1.6 Twinscroll Turbo)
Start 2016 I got a new job with 50% travel, sold the BMW and my wifes car and got her a Seat Altea XL Copa 1.6 TDI DSG (First automatic)

Currently have the Altea, it's our family car but other than our holiday I don't think I've driven it any more than an hour. I bank the car allowance now and use pool cars at the offices when I travel - it's mostly an Octavia DSG in Nottingham and a Cadillac Escalade in St Louis.

I promise to add photos when I've got more time

    1) Golf mark 2, white three door 1.3 litre L. Loved it, changed lots of parts with my dad too

    2) Honda civic coupe, metallic pale greeny turquoisey silverish colour, 1.6 litre and an automatic M reg bought in 1997

    3) MGF 1.9 VVC bought brand new on an employee scheme the only new car I have had, pearlescent British racing green. Loved it, gave it back after three years the payments were nailing me and the final payment was ridiculous.

    4) Back to reality, an N reg VW Vento, white with added rust motif, 1.6l rough as arses. I basically killed it being clumsy with a plug change and broke the connector off an injector, it was a rough runner afterwards

    5) Rover 75 V6 I liked the engine burble on the barge, it was a hugely comfortable thing in damson red metallic. Gear change cables went and I realised spares like that were sparse when I had to buy a salvage gear change cables to fix it.

    6) Citroen C4 Loeb, red with white alloys. Loved this one it was a better pick for me than the old man rover. Way better on fuel, a diesel, all mouth and a bit of trousers. Would have kept it for a long time until some scamming fucking c##ts had me in a cash for crash and it was written off. Wankers. It lives again though bought by someone over Norwich way at salvage and returned to its best.

    7) Citroen DS4 a bit of retail therapy after the crash this was 7 months old with 7k on the clock. 2.0l diesel in bourassque blue. Comfy as anything, massage seats, goes like stink if needed, part leather. Someone went into the back of it 41 days after I bought it. Dopey cow. Repaired and sound as a pound. I treated this really well, waxed etc. I noticed the lacquer was coming off the wheels, all replaced under warranty. New tyres all round nearly £600 Michelin's. Was going to keep it long term, still own it and had it MOT'd last week (due its first on 5/9/16 at three years old). On the drive and not used because:

    8) got a new job, plus an Audi A3 s-line in silver. Great car, no toys at all which is a bit crap but what can you do? It was six months old when I got it, someone had it from new and failed to pass their six month probation. I'm on six months probation, at least after that I know I'll have a replacement only two years later. Great car for driving, s-line suspension option is so low but still comfy enough. Boot isn't that big but space for the hard hat huge boots and site kit
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

I only passed my test in 2010 (think I had a post on here about failing the first test but cant remember)
Only had 3 cars so far

    Ford KA 1.3 2002 (Silver)

    (actual pic)

Subaru Impreza WRX 2.5 Turbo Pro-drive (Subaru Blue)

    (actual pic)

Was funny when I picked up the Subaru

Garage Owner: "Subaru will be ready in 5 mate, so what you changing from?"
Me: "oh I have a Ford KA"
Garage Owner: "a what mate, did you say Ford KA?"
    Me: "yeah little 1.3 thing"
Garage Owner: "have you ever driven anything like this before?"
Me: "no, but it can be that much different really"
Garage Owner: "please dont kill yourself on the way home"
    Me: "yeah no problem"
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

My cars were mainly company cars for a while, I only really took photos of them after something interesting happened

1997 N reg 1.6 Ford Escort broke it on a customers car reversing from a car park barrier that wouldn't move
1998-2000 1.9D Citreon dispatch van a few dents by others broke the gear linkage on the M6
    2000 Peugeot 406 survived
2000 BMW 318 91.6 pile of junk survived
1.9 Peugeot 206 broke this one a few times

    1.7TD Astra survived
Ford Focus only had this one 2 weeks before breaking it with a barrier on the M56

That was the end of my company cars they wouldn't give me another for some reason but went self employed anyway and got the next one on lease

2003 -2006 Ford Transit connect not my fault and someone keyed it

    2006 - 2013 Vectra 1.9CDTi 150bhp

    wasn't incident free
b and q trick ripped the front bumper off

Someone hit my sisters black corsa in to mine, corsa was written off so much damage and only 6 months old

Sold the Vectra and bought an Audi A5 sline sportback

never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups!

I've had too many to remember so I will start and add a few, I expect this post to gradually expand over the bank holiday weekend.

    1. 81 VW Golf GTI Mk1 - blew the engine before I even got my license. Also got stolen from the location it died.
    2. 88 Volvo 340 1.7 - it drove, had to replace a clutch, but it then got used by my mum and dad as an emergency car and to take things to the tip for many years, and was still running strong when we gave it for free to some neighbours
    3. 89 Vauxhall Astra SRI - lasted a few months until I killed the engine
    4. 88 Saab 900 Turbo - Car was indestructible and fun, but eventually got stolen.
    5. 94 Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 4x4 - Fun handling. However I left it on my mum's drive for ages as it needed a new (bonded) front windscreen which was going to cost me a fortune and she gave it for free to a scrap metal person
    6. 88 Toyota Carina II 1.6 - This car had been between my parents many times, and after they got rid of the Volvo, this ended up as the car used to take things to the dump, until I got it. Was totally knackered but still drove until some woman hit my drivers door at about 40mph. The cool thing about this car was back in around 2002, I replaced the audio system with higher quality components that also let me play MP3's from my mobile phone. There was a gap of a good few years after this until cars starting coming out with functionality to play music from mobile phones.
    7. 86 Toyota Corolla 1.3 - got it for £50 after the carina died. Blew the head gasket in about 2 weeks.
    8. 94 Nissan Micra 1.3 - hated it at first due to image, but came to love my little go kart by the end due to great handling, visibility and lighting, bought for about £300 as scrap, fixed it up, drove it, then when I was offered I think £750 I got rids.
    9. 93 Toyota Carina E 1.6 - Was fed up of having people ripping me for the Micra so thought I should get something a little more manly. Got it dirt cheap and it had low mileage so drove very nice
    10. 94 Toyota Carina E 1.6 - Was fed up of driving a gold car (previous Carina E) so I sold that for a reasonable profit and got a newer one in white for I think £150. However this one had an immobiliser problem so got rids at cost.
    11. 94 Toyota Carina E 1.6 - Got another low mileage carina so I could enjoy reliable driving again for a while, until it started running funny, engine light was on, and two garages couldn't fix it so got rids. With what I know today, I suspect it was just a bad lambda sensor, but I didn't have diagnostic computers then, and I didn't really work on cars much then either.
    12. 95 Toyota Carina E 1.6 - This one had a good innings, but after having a few Carina's in a row, I was itching for a change.
    13. 96 Toyota Carina E 2.0 - Went to auction determined to buy anything except a Carina. Found a Carina in totally immaculate condition and was the only bidder. So much for my plan.....
    14. 97 Peugeot 406 1.8 - Was happy to have something that looked and felt a lot more modern compared to the Carinas. Handling was a lot better as well. However 2 weeks down the line I found it needed a new cat, and had some strange electrical problem causing all the car's electrics to keep turning on/off while driving occasionally.
    15. 94 Volvo 850 Estate 2.0 - Was amazed at the turning circle for such a large car although I hated it's auto gearbox. However I still loved it until it wouldn't start one day. Opened the bonnet and saw oil everywhere. Was totally baffled what had happened until my flatmate told me he saw me getting out of the car at around 5am the day before I couldn't start it with a carrier bag full of booze. Oops.
    16. 97 Volvo S40 1.6 - Liked the last Volvo but decided I didn't need a big estate or an auto box.
    17. ?? Volvo S40 2.0 - Liked the last S40, so got one with a bigger engine and leathers. I even fitted a massive hifi system with 2 x competition grade Pioneer subs. While they were burning in (amp only set to delivery approx. 25% of max power subs could handle) I somehow managed to burn the subs out in about 4 days However for those 4 days I probably had the loudest S40 in the UK
    18. 98 Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 - fun to drive but I suspect all important electronic and mechanical components are made of a hybrid between chocolate and cheese - i.e. everything fell apart. Still have the car, still starts but underside needs welding.
    19. 99 Peugeot 406 Coupe 3.0 - very disappointing compared to the Alfa, power delivery was much worse (maybe because of auto box), steering nowhere near as sharp as the Alfa. Did not live up to it's looks for me. Rear head gasket went so I got more than my money back by breaking for spare parts.
    20. 94 Renault Clio 1.2 - cheap car with extremely low mileage (35000?) that was drove and then sold for twice what I paid for it.
    21. 06 Vauxhall Astra 1.3 Diesel - very disappointing lack of power, but this was probably due to a faulty EGR valve I only sorted a few hours before I sold it, so maybe I didn't really give it a fair chance.
    22. 08 Peugeot 206 1.4 - Got it for pennies as it needed a new ECU. Instead of this, it was fully rewired using wiring and control units from a 2001 206. Hate the POS with a vengeance, although for some inexplicable reason it is still on my drive.
    23. 00 Volvo S40 1.6 - Daily driver, puts up with endless abuse but keeps going. I'm not just talking normal abuse, it's done a good few miles off-road, I've used this car to push other cars, the sump (bottom of the engine) has been smacked hard against loads of high speed bumps, I've used this car as a power source to power up large BMW's for a good few hours at a time to reprogram them, it's been used as a body repair jig (big chain stuck on my towing eye other end of chain attached to car that needs to be bent back into shape), and these are just the examples that spring to mind. After 2017 I will be happy to find something else as then I will have won a £10 sweepstake between me, my mum, and my brother+sister, although I am interested to see how much more abuse it can handle.
    24. 98 Volvo S40 2.0 turbo - non runner that I've never tried to fix, I just consider it my spare parts car.
    25. 99 Saxo 1.4 Auto - Only done 31000 miles. Technically it's mine, but I only got it to loan to my mum.

While typing up my mini reviews, I remembered a Volvo 740 2.3 - I managed to kill the engine - holes in the sides of 3 cylinders (rods not broken, pistons still moving up and down, just massive lack of compression), and a Rover 420 2.0 GSi that used to leak so much oil I used to buy 4 or 5 gallon containers at a time just to keep it topped up. Can't even remember where these fitted amongst the others.

Only car I managed to damage in a crash was the Volvo 740 - minor damage to wing + bumper. A couple of the others have been involved in minor bumper touches/bumper scrapes which I don't really count.

A general theme should be apparent - I've never spunked big money on a car, just bought cheap and cheerful runabouts. Been tempted with a few BMW's/Mercs along the way, but the cheap and cheerful ones tend to be too much headache to seriously consider.

People often laugh at me when I roll up to perform specialist diagnostic / electrical work on BMWs & Merc's in my shitty old Volvo, but then I remind them if I had a fancy car, I might need to fix that before I can come out to fix theirs.

Tired of thinking about cars, gonna drink and maybe come back to this later or another time.

Not had as many as some of you guys.. I tend to keep them longer.

    1) Citroen LNA11E (purple'ish) Dad got it for my 17th birthday. Drove it for a few years untill I went to Uni.

    2) 205 Gti 1.6 (graphite grey) Bought in my 2nd year at Uni to get to and from my industrial placement. Owned for probably 13-14 years. Finally broke for parts after having had 306gti6 engine/box, 309 Gti front and rear components, coilovers etc.

    3) Renault Clio rsi (blue) Bought off of the old man. Used this while I was working out how to get the 306 engine working in the 205. Sold to buy the next car.

    4) BMW E30 325 Sport Tech 2.(lachs silver). Beautiful car, but a rust bucket. Bodyshop gave me a quote of £6k + vat to repair. Sold it for what I paid.

    5) Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI (silver) Owned for 8 years or so. Used to be a daily driver, but hardly gets used now. Only take it out on nice days for a bit of fun.

Oh yeah, not mine but the mrs and I ordered our new motability car yesterday. 3 month wait, but for what it is I think it's a nice looking vehicle. I saw a used one on their forecourt in this colour and said to the Mrs we have to have our new car in that colour.

Vauxhall Insignia Tourer in Emerald Green.

OK here goes, passed my test 27 years ago, all but the last two pictures are sourced from the net and are the actual colours I owned, the last two are actual pics.

    first car,
    Escort Mk2 1.3 popular plus

Then a Ford Fiesta 1.3 sport (not the XR2 pictured but the nearest picture I could find)

Back to another Escort a 1.6L (yes I actually owned a beige car with a dark brown interior)

Started a decent paid job and before I even got my first paycheck I bought a brand new one of these beauties

Upon realising the stupid mistake of buying a new car that took more than half my pay each month I got rid and got this bad boy.

Moving on into my boy racing days

Getting older and more sensible, great car this one, served me well. The mazda 626

Technically didn't own this one, it was leased for a year.

Didn't like the idea of leasing so bought this piece of shit. Without doubt the worst car I've ever owned and is the reason I will never buy a Renault EVER AGAIN.

First car I kept over 4 years, cracking car, no problems at all in those 4 years, only got rid because it had 98k miles on it.

First dip into the German market, nice solid car this,

Thought I'd give a Honda a try, as much as this was a good car with lots of clever ideas, it was like a toy to drive and was terrible in slow stop start traffic,

Back to the beemers, a 2.0D MSport owned this one over 5 years and apart from servicing only had to buy a light bulb. Absolutely mint car, shit in the snow though so decided I wanted a front or four wheel drive hatchback next,

Okay sod the front/four wheel drive hatch idea, paid off the house so treated myself to this XFS. Great car to drive with excellent styling imo but that's where it ended, lots of niggles that would be expensive when out of warranty.

Again back to the beemer then, but this is a 4x4 hatchback. Not had it long but love it, the 335GT is fast and smooth with a nice growl for a diesel. Hope to keep this car a while as it has everything I want in a car.

No doubt several have been forgotten and the order may not be correct...

Dates are very much approximate... first year is when i owned it, second year is the year the car was made.

1991 1982 Renault 9 1.4 - crashed it late one night before even passing my test

1991 1986 Nissan Cherry 1.3 - passed down from my parents after the above incident

1992 1987 Vauxhall Astra SR 1.6 - loved this car

    1993 1982 Ford Fiesta XR2 mark 1 1.6 - a bit rotten but good fun

    1993 1981 Austin Mini 1275GT - started out as a 1.0, bought a scrap 1275 and transplanted the engine

    1996 1984 Ford Sierra 1.8 - yawn

1994 1985 Vauxhall Astra GTE mark 1 1.8 - adored this one cost me £250 and went like a rocket

1995 1988 Vauxhall Nova GTE 1.6 - turbo charged roller skate

1995 1986 (Another) Vauxhall Astra GTE mark 1 - this one was a bit rough

    1997 1988 Peugeot 309 GTi 1.9 - a bit of a dog sadly

    1997 1975 VW Beetle 1303 - standard rotbox beetle

1997 1973 (another) Gold beetle with porsche style bodykit and a mental sounding exhaust - so ridiculous it was cool

1997 1979 VW Camper bay window 1979 - many sweet memories made in this car

1997 1985 Vauxhall Astra Mark 1 1.6SR - twin carb mod and lowered - a welder set it on fire prepping it for mot

    1996 1986 Rover 216i - yawn

    1998 1984 Fiat uno turbo 1.4 - much quicker than I expected

1998 1973 Land Rover Series 2A fitted with a 2.3 petrol granada engine - great fun

1999 1988 Toyota MR2 Mark 1 (Supercharged) - span it on a wet road and wrote it off

    1999 1982 Fiat X1/9 - good fun but a rot box

2000 1996 Ford Mondeo v6 - commuted 70000 miles in a year in this car

    2002 1999 Ford Focus Ghia 2.0 - yawn

    2003 1996 Rover MGF 1.8 - good fun

2005 1985 Lotus Excel - a bit of a money pit but enjoyed it

    2006 1985 Toyota Supra 3.0 - awful car

2007 2006 Lotus Elise - loved this car but very impractical

    2008 1997 Peugeot 205 diesel - yawn

2008 1982 Lotus Esprit Turbo S3 - ticked a major boyhood dream box with this but it was a bit daft !

    2009 1998 Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 - yawn

    2010 1999 Saab 93 2.0 Turbo - yawn

    2012 2004 Nissan Almera Tino 2.2 Diesel - worst car i've owned

    2012 2008 Nissan Note 1.4 - yawn

2015 2001 Audi TT Mark 1 180bhp - wanted one for years, modded it to 215bhp

2015 2000 VW Golf 1.8T GTi - taught myself ecu engine tuning with this car. 240bhp when it left me and the new owners got a ticket for 105MPH (in a 30) the weekend I sold it.

2015 2002 VW Golf 2.3 V5 - sounded lovely but not in the same league as the above.

    2015 2010 Jeep Patriot 2.2 D - family car

    Current cars
2016 2002 Audi TT Mark 1 225bhp (now 270bhp) - don't use it much but love her. My current project car

    2016 2010 Audi S3 Mark 2 265bhp (now 315bhp) - daily driver - great fun and a properly nice car.

2016 2014 Jeep Cherokee 2.0 Diesel - the family car.
