Help TV power lead length when wall mounting

    Hi guys.
I'm going for a cavity build (HDMI's ethernet etc) in my lounge as I want the TV to look mint.
One thing though, is the power lead length.
I've got power sockets offset at normal height, but clearly, wall mounting it will leave the plug dangling and I don't want extension leads etc trailing about.
Have any of you extended your power leads? - splicing etc?

    Appreciate the advice

If you really want it looking mint and have the funds then have a powerpoint and all the other bits installed further up the wall and behind the TV, with all the cables buried in the wall, failling that a nice piece of trunking dropped down from behind the TV to the floor and painted same colour as the wall doesn't look that bad.

    Regards
    Les

If going this route I would check house insurance as some won't pay out of heaven forbid something went wrong with wiring ran in the walls that isn't main line sockets.
    I'm pretty sure that's correct

If going trunking route I would recommend the dlink range it's domed and comes in a variety of colours

Still work in progress...I've got a twin socket, 1 hdmi (from the amp), a handful of cat 5 and a couple of coax. I was able to do this during a refurb though.

    Thanks to wadgey

DO NOT run the cable from the TV through a cavity and out to a socket. This WILL invalidate your house insurance and is dangerous. Instead spur off your socket and put a socket BEHIND your TV.

If you run the cable through the wall down to the socket and there is an electrical fault the cable running in your wall could get VERY hot and ultimately start a fire. If you will be running cables anyway, take the time and do it properly.

take the powerlead to behind the tv then connect the tv lead to that. Bought a length of cable, plug and a socket job done.
