Default Alternative Router Firmware HH 5

Been having a browse around trying to find an alternative firmware for the BT Home Hub 5 Type B

Found one for the Type A but not B and as they use different chipsets it won't work.

Any info appreciated otherwise I will be binning it off and buying a router that supports VPN at router level.

    Thanks for any info

What alternative FW did you find? The HH updates by itself, ages ago (before the HH3), I experimented with a few and managed to use the BT VoIP on multiple handsets around the house with multiple HHs and there was a trick to stop them auto-updating but I can't remember it now and not sure it would work on newer hubs. Not sure if VPN is limited to the business hub but what are you actually trying to set up as IIRC the VPN section just had a port clamp enable setting rather than being able to VPN to the router or set up a VPN service for WAN traffic.

    Thanks to evilsatan

    I found this for the HH5 Type A only : https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/bt/homehub_v5a

On my HH Type B I have absolutely NO VPN setting at all. It is a proper shit router.

    Thanks for the info

I didn't realise any of the wrt projects supported ADSL/VDSL routers! I will see if I can fire up a HH5 today and confirm what the stock FW setting is but it certainly won't be as good as the open/dd-wrt features.

    Thanks to evilsatan

Apparently nobody is currently attempting the B model as it uses a Broadcom chipset for the Wifi which atm has no opensource drivers. Ahhh fuck.
