Yeah gotta say, like minded people here and a trusted reputation mean that it is a good place to trade goods without the BS of eGay and the like.

Same can be said about tech chat and banter. I dunno about most of you but at least there are people here who do actually know what they are talking about. Not all members granted.... lol

Maybe we could bring back the monthly photo competition, it was very popular once upon a time, i know it takes time and effort to set up, but there must be some member who has time to sort it out.

not sure if there is an answer , apart from people move on and the young generation have everything on a plate and just dont need that knowlege base we have here, ive been here many years and still dont have a high post count but no other forum has ever held my attention as long , i love the place but i think we got to just face facts that its not 2001 anymore and things have changed ,

This is pretty much the only forum I visit everyday still the odd decent nugget pops up for me.
Never been a prolific poster, been a VIP a couple of times to give a little back.
Not sure how to breath new life into the forum, I do think reducing the topics and sub topics a bit might help, but competing with Facebook is a futile exercise and the younger generation is spoonfed everything, most just straight to Facebook and everything they want is on there.

Its sad, but the younger generation want everything now, they don't want to work for it, why buy 12c508 chip and put it in a ps and burn a disc at x1 speed. Because that is too much like hard work and takes too long.
We're all getting older and with families and the likes have less time to tinker and break things.
Half the reason I could repair consoles was because I'd broken them and learnt what the code was and how to repair it.

We're the only generation that knows how to set the clock on the vcr, your parents didn't and your children don't know what a vcr is.

    Times a changing I'm afraid 😨
I love this place don't post alot but I'm a fairly quiet person on the other side of the keyboard.

The only way to get people back is by giving away free things, yep the leeches will come out but there must be a few like minded people would come too?

Try a post with a random link stating free voip for sky sports only for members with 10 posts watch the posts suddenly increase.

Hope a solution comes up, I would like to see df back up at the top.

Just a few minutes ago I decided to see if the forum was still going and if somehow I could remember my password after so many years (and if the Hall of Shame still existed go straight there, I used to love that!). I've mostly switched to Reddit now but have great memories of DF when it was really going strong, a specific subject I'm gonna play it safe by assuming still isn't allowed to be discussed but I'm sure most know what I'm on about in that respect but that was what initially prompted me to join if I remember correctly. It was/is a great forum so I decided to stay but gradually drifted away after I left uni. Glad to see the place is still going and also see some names I still recognise

Edit : I'm sure my post count etc. used to be higher than that but have no idea how the system has been revamped since then!

There was a massive post culling related to the On/ITV digi forums from yesteryear. That would have wiped out a few million of members posts.

Blimey. Just clicked 'New Posts' for the first time in 24 hours and there were 4 entries.

Appreciate there could be more in the VIP sections, but that's the lowest I think I have ever seen.

I think it's the time of year, we are all back to work and skint after Xmas.

It's a depressing time come February, DF will be busy hopefully.

To be fair only been here a few years but it is deffo dying. People say it is because of this because of that. It has massively died off in my short time here.
Lack Of support ??? More than likely that Internet forums are being killed off by the various social media outlets ...

Sad but true Digital Forums will not last forever .

DF may not completely die out but it is on the slow down. Times change now everyone (that's a cunt) uses Facebook.
Most non user related content that comes up on df is sourced from other sites like news articles etc.

The biggest issue is we don't specialise in one content.
if it was a dedicated forum for say Wii then it would be buzzing with wii users, but we cover too many subjects and not enough users to contribute to these threads.

So what makes different from other sites? = The members
DF is a community full of assholes like us who like to moan and bitch but also post funny shit and get help from other assholes.

Well sorry to say until rap closes the doors on DF I will always be here.

I'm sorry to sound harsh here but if you think DF is dying then post something interesting and get a thread or two going.
you can't complain about it and just sit back and watch it die!

mods and admin have lives too you think we get paid to do this?
come on lads only you can change the future of the site.

Is DF dying = not if you do your bit to do something about it!
Have you joined the DF discord server. https://discord.com/invite/YajVGQxDaw

    Rubbish piggzy.

DF may not be as busy as it has been, but it's all down to content. People are not posting as much as before. The sheer number of other data sources now, some of them specific means people can just be lazy and use google to find their answers.

While we have such great threads like the plex thread, gif thread and other DF homegrowns it's not going to die.

When the web gets so full of shit news and info, forums like ours will shine through.

Please don't shoot me down too much, but from 'watching' the forum for many years I did see a lot of people who were new asking questions and long-time members would either blast them for leeching or tell them that Google is their friend.

So to say there are other data sources, this is true, but people were told to go and find them.

A lot of the time the info is available elsewhere, however you want to ask people who may have tried various methods of this/that and give a better insight to an issue than the web will. Too often you are looking for a problem, find someone online who had the same issue but then the trail goes cold as they found the answer but never follow through to tell the rest of the world how they resolved it. This is where places like DF come into play and you want to chat with real people who are active.

I believe DF will continue to do a decent job but I do think that going on the defensive straight away can deter folk.

i come here for the people, i can find most stuff i need online (like most of us here) but to find a forum full of complete twats that share a similar attitude to myself - priceless!

    fuck y'all
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I surf these forums very rarely now and I couldn't log in so on the rare times I did visit, I never posted anything.

Seeing this made me try and find out how to log in (amazingly there is a space in my username, not sure how many forums allow you to have a space and I forgot my username had one).

This forum used to be one of my main ones. It used to physically hurt when it was down for whatever reason. In the year 2000 I used to go to the CD Rom Guide, All-Forums, Thoric and later Modshack and they were the only places I used to come online (I also used to go to the Adult Chat Network under the name Bloodclot but that was for an altogether different type of coming online).

The problem is that bascially there is not one standout reason to come here that would attract people here. Back in the day OD made everyone come here and they would stay and hang around and read some of the other forums like cheapskate corner and Dog and Duck. Digital Forums don't have anything like that now.

The forum format is not dead. XDA has no problem attracting thousands of members because it specialises in something people are interested in - namely android devices, custom roms etc. When you have thousands of members some of those are going to very knowledgable which in turn will attract more members who want advice and want to learn.

That is what Digital Forums was like when the OD stuff was going on, now those knowledgable members have moved on which in turn attracts less members and just contributes to the general decline.

Also, DF used to be scary and dangerous which made it exciting. I remember getting ripped off by someone who pretended to be an old moderator called Fireblade. I am convinced it was a member called Mr Curver who I am equally convinced has probably has at least one stretch inside by now. The Point is that is what made this such an interesting place to come to - there were people who helped each other but equally there were people who just wanted to steal from others and you never really knew if someone wanted to help you or rip you off/flame you which was part of the appeal (for me at least). Members like Mr Curver (and his numerous other incarnations) have gone as well now.

It is intersting to see CzarJunkie post here because I remember talking to him about getting ripped off when he was a moderator here and he was suprisingly sympathetic.

Basically a lot of the members (the good ones and the bad ones) that made the place vibrant have left. They won't be coming back and neither will the DF of 2000.

BTW I liked all the newbie bashing and shaming. I have always hated PC bullshit. I got under one persons skin so badfly that he publicy stated that wished he was a moderator just so he could ban me and someone made him a moderator in the middle of us arguing and he promptly banned me! I can't remember his name but he was a scottish guy who ended up moderating the mechanic part I think. It took ages to get back in and it drove me crazy i couldn't see what was going on in here.

If that happened now and I was banned and couldn't get back i, I wouldn't care and that's the difference.

DF was like internet crack then and now it is not.
