single screen confirmed (cant use console and tv like the wii u) so no backward compatibility for now
I'm hope the docking station isn't locked to one switch screen and you can have local multiplayer on separate screens with one cartridge, They had something similar on the DS. If they have these features, Here's my money.
Just seen the price seems to have leaked and if it is just 200 quid I am very tempted.didn't bother with the wiiu but this does look interesting especially at the price being thrown around at the min

Official announcement coming at 4am GMT on Friday 13th .

£279 and only Zelda out at the launch (Maarch 3rd)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe out in April which is essentially wii u version including DLC.
Mario odyssey looks amazing but isn't out till xmas.
=(
It's $470 over here without a game.
I'm sorry Nintendo, but i won't be buying one at launch. A bit out of my price range and a limited game launch.
I'll hold off for 6 months until more games are available.
The cost is going to kill this. The "Pro Controller"adds $69.99, additional Joy-Con controllers $79.99 each, and a spare dock $89.99 (and as a portable, many people will likely want at least one extra).
I'll buy it, of course, just for Odyssey. :-) But I predict this will die a death that's make the Wii-U look like a success, unless they advertise like Coke and them some and get some huge exclusives before launch. Neither of which look likely.
Yes, def no Wii-U disk slot. :-(
I have a feeling this will be Nintendos last non-DS console. They don't have the image to appeal to today's gamers and seem to be relying too heavily on 80's/90's kids fan base.
I can see them going the way of Sega which I'm sure many of you will have predicted.
Once their projections show that they can make more money by selling licences and developing for other platforms they'll be done with consoles.
Nintendo are on their last legs the switch looked intriguing to me and could have been their saviour, then wallop they slam a ridiculous price on it.
This I fear is the end for them.
One thing it won't be is the end. Nintendo have more spare cash than God.
However, in terms of making consoles, it could well be. A shame for sure. But they would make a shit hot games developer/publisher for the other consoles that's for sure!
It is a ridiculous price but I still have pre-ordered one - Zelda and Mario worth it for me I reckon

I'd pay £200 with Zelda.
Any more than that, and it can wait.
I'll wait to get one cheap in the BST on here.
That is the biggest problem imho. They think they can continually ride on the Mario & Zelda fan base.
Not any more I don't think.
Not a fan of either so as a non Nintendo, Mario, Donkey or Zelda geek,
I bought the Wii (Thought it was fantastic for about a month, the family thought about 6 months) - (relived the love on and off due to Mods etc)
Bought the Wii-U (Thought it was wank from day one, only bought it as the Mrs moaned, nothing for a non Nintendo fan)
Switch - JOG ON
The only thing that made me sit up so to speak was when they announced Skyrim, then I thought wait. I just purchased it for the second time, why would I buy it again ???
If you like it great but it does nothing for me and will not be getting purchased no matter how much I am told we need it.

Is it really a console or a DS at a different price point
Historicity there portables have been profitable,
They know they can't compete with sony and Ms.
So I think it's a good move to corner portable market where they
Dominate ,and have lots of IP to leverage cheaply and also the hardware will only get cheaper over time
Is anybody thinking devices with the same tegra soc
Be interesting to see how it pans out
I can't understand why Nintendo haven't focused on what made the Wii popular - the control system. It brought gaming to people who weren't traditionally gamers and let's be honest, every fucker bought it. I, for one, have only really wanted a Wii with the horsepower to compete with an Xbox or Playstation. The potential is still there if they get it right.
