    Advice Pixel Smoothing

Hi. I am currently putting together a few items for one of my boys Christmas presents. Those with kids of a certain age may know of Andy's Dinosaur Adventure, which my boy loves. So I need to design 2 patches that'll be printed onto iron-on paper which will affix to the arms of a shirt. After many hours last night I have created this:

After taking a look at it and knowing it's going to be approx 10cm height and 7.5cm wide, the image looks a bit blocky. I created it I paint but that's probably the most technical program I have access to. Is there a free software and effect that I can use which can smooth the edges? On my phone I downloaded a couple of photoshop apps but cannot alter this.

Any help of advice would be much appreciated!

Haha, that's brilliant! Thanks very much.
Can you tell me what you used and how you did it. I used to use a program years ago in school called PhotoMagic but that was 20+ years ago. Would like to be able to do a lot more basic graphic design for things like t-shirt designs etc, but Adobe Photoshop is quite scary! Might look for a local beginners course!

I use Photoshop. I found a better quality version of your T Rex silhouette online and rebuilt your image at a far higher 300 pixels per inch resolution. Photoshop can be a bit of a head fuck when you first use it and you really need to get to grips with layers before you start to understand it. I use it everyday but only really use 10% of its functionality, Photoshop is vast and can be very intimidating. An alternative to Photoshop is GIMP and its free!

That's great. I started at the same point as you but the image once in paint must have lowered the resolution. It took about 3 hours to create clicking pixel after pixel! At least I'll put it down as a learning curve and get a copy of photoshop to play with!

    Many thanks again

I use CorelDraw which has improved greatly over the years. Not quite as headfuck as Illustrator & Photoshop, but does the same job.

Might give CorelDraw a try. That's been around some time. Got a few images I'd like to play with that'll look good on t-shirts for my little people!

Paint.NET - it's free and relatively easy to use with a lot of the functionality of Photoshop or if you are feeling adventurous try GIMP
