Default PIA VPN on BT infinity

    Had anyone done this?

What's involved and can I install piano on the standard router they supply?

You can't install it on the BT HomeHub but you can install the VPN client app on up to 5 devices (can install on as many as you like but 5 concurrent connections). There are apps for Windows, OSX, Linux, iOS and Android but you cannot get the VPN app to work on some android devices such as the Amazon Firestick.

If you need to get the VPN to work on one of the latter devices you either need to replace your router (or add a DD-WRT/OpenWRT WAP) with one that can connect to OpenVPN or you can connect one of your computers/servers/VMs to the client app and then run Cproxy on that device and connect your Kodi (or whatever) apps to that proxy. If you have a VM you can even run a software router to do this.

Kodi has an option to connect to a proxy in its settings page so I used that to connect to one of my machines running cproxy.

I'd look at the Asus DSL-AC68U, it's supposed to be good and is £110.

Just had a thought, I don't think there is any custom firmware for routers with integrated modems so check out before you buy the DSL-AC68U, I forgot about this when someone mentioned the router previously. OpenVPN may work with that router on stock FW but check first!

Ive got a Netgear R7000 and still to this day cannot get PIA to work running DD-WRT firmware. Follow the PIA guide - fails. Follow You Tube guides - fails. Very hit and miss with PIA it seems on routers.

    (Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r30910M kongac (12/02/16)

Have you tried OpenWRT? Also worth a post in the PIA support forums as they seem helpful with things like this or there may be a thread already.

Managed to get it solved- was bloody BT Protect forcing DNS servers whilst trying to use PIA. Switched off BT Protect, then used OpenDNS servers on DDWRT. All working
