A British doctor allegedly held hostage by her family for a forced marriage in Bangladesh is free to return home to the UK, a court has ruled.
Dr Abedin was allegedly held after visiting family
Humayra Abedin's lawyer has said her parents have been ordered to give up the GP's passport.
Two judges have also ruled that the 33-year-old must remain in the court's custody until she flies home.
The GP, who works in east London, was captured in Dhaka after going to see her apparently ill mother, it has been claimed.
Lawyer Sara Hossein said: "We're delighted with the result, the rights of a Bangladeshi woman have been protected as they should be.
"Dr Abedin looks very relieved, she's a very brave woman."
After virtually no communication with the outside world, a close friend of Dr Abedin told Sky News he received a desperate-sounding text message from her.
The message said: "Please help me. My life is in danger. They have locked me in a house. My job is at stake. They are making my life hell."
When her story first came to light last week, her lawyer in the UK, Anne-Marie Hutchinson, said: "It's pretty shocking that it can happen to an independent, professional woman living in her own flat in London and working at a major teaching hospital.
"You would think that her age and the fact that she is independent would have kept her safe.
"Her family assume that their choices are better than hers."
The court ruling comes after the High Court was asked to take action under a new Forced Marriage Act, ordering the doctor's relatives in London to show her to a woman's organisation or the authorities.
Honouring the UK court order, the Bangladesh High Court had asked Dr Abedin's family to produce her before the court by today.
Dr Abedin has allegedly been held by her family before. In August she escaped from family in Dhaka but returned there voluntarily after urgent messages saying her mother was sick.
Lawyers representing her father, Mohammad Joynal Abedin, have previously claimed Dr Abedin is mentally ill and unable to decide for herself.
