The Post Office also does 0% commision also. They will also buy it back at the rate it was sold to you at so keep your reciept . They only buy back notes though , no coins.
Are travellers cheques the same deal?
Yeah m8, You only have to pay commission on sterling travellers cheques, but you'll be after dollar travellers cheques so you'll be fine.
Why not talk to your bank and ask them if they have any affiliates in Florida ? If they do, you can use your cash machine card over there. AND if you talk sweetly to your bank, they shouldn't charge you ,

How about checking with your travel agent? some travel agents now also offer 0% commission.
I always thought it was best to carry only a small amount of cash and put most of it on card?
hi
send your money to Digital forums and they will convert it to DF dollars...for free he he he he
Lots of the bigger branches of M&S have forex counters.
Again 0% commission and usually shorter queues than the banks.
Exchange rate varies from dealer to dealer - even on the same day!
Suggest you ask at one or two to get an idea of who usually does best exchange rate - and what they charge as well - can be an eye opener - and if you have a Co-op Travel near check them out - they have been doing a good rate and commission free for a while.
There is also a difference between the tourist rate and the commercial rate.
While in Spain I was using my Nationwide card in the cash machines, and when converted back through to my account, was changed at the commercial rate.
Therefore I got 1.59 euros to the pound (commercial rate) instead of 1.51 Euros to the pound.
Talk to your bank or cash card provider that you can use your card abroad and what rate they convert back to.
Respect guys.
recently got euro travellers cheques through am-ex no commission but however was charged 1 to 4 euros to cash them in resort. Whats this about drawing money out of the cash point? do they accept switch cards etc. and do you get a good exchange rate? when you check ur account when u get home or is it better just to pay a few quid this end for a better exchange when u get there.

i use my switch abnd visa electron to draw euros in europe or my visa card to do the same, only problem is the limit is 250-300 euros a day so in reality its only useful if you use multiple cards to draw enough money each day, but you still get charged a conversion rate so taking cash and using the hotel safe is the best option (dont use your room safe though as they arent exactly hard to open )
I will have to agree with JimM.
I used M&S many times before and it proved to have the best currency rates....
I'm off to vegas this w/e and spoke to NatWest today.
You can use your cashpoint card in AMTs with Cirus or Solo (common in the US) but will get charged 2.5% commission. On a plus side, the commercial rate is used which is always much better than the tourist rate.
I always use the credit card abroad - gives you a nice surprise for when you get home.
