Rings (2017)

I enjoyed the first film very much. A great, modern horror that had everything. Filmed well, good acting and enough terror to freak out the most hardened person.
"Rings" on the other hand is in my opinion a load of tripe. The premise of the original movie is that on the VHS tape was a hidden part that's not visible just outside of the normal tracking range. This was kind of believable - we've all been there with a video that's been recorded over and you can see parts of previous recordings. This time... Copying an mpeg on a Macbook is all that's needed. A fail in my opinion. Casting Johnny Galecki from Big Bang fame was also a mistake in my opinion - Not a serious enough actor for a movie like this.
The story has been dumbed down too much and altered just to stretch more movies out of what I can only assume will be 5 movies or more of this "franchise". Watching it I almost forgot I was watching a film based on The Ring and felt more like I was watching something like Scary Movie. The teenagers are annoying, the decisions made by the protagonist of the movie were unbelievable and there is no moody, scare building in the filming.
