Michael Jackson was supposed to be in twin towers on 9/11, says brother Jermaine

Michael Jackson was supposed to be at the World Trade Centre for a meeting on the morning of September 11, 2001, according to his brother Jermaine.

The 'Thriller' singer had been staying in New York City after performing two tribute concerts at Madison Square Garden prior to the terrorist attacks and was due to meet with business contacts in the doomed skyscrapers.

Jermaine told Access Hollywood Live: "My mother Katherine had stayed up with him all the way until four in the morning and he just slept. He missed his appointments, which was great."

Jermaine went on to reveal that he immediately called Katherine after learning of the attacks, but his mother assured him that Michael "was fine".

Jermaine also dismissed suggestions that Michael struggled with substance abuse, insisting: "[Michael] was not a drug addict."

Earlier this week, Jermaine revealed that he plotted an escape plan for Michael in case his brother was convicted of child molestation in 2005.
