Just read up on the Tufo books - i was going to send a link to my brother as he is into this stuff too, but i think you may have found the perfect gift for his birthday!! ( i always struggle with what to buy him!)

I'm going to have a search, but i wonder if you can buy the complete set of books in a presentation case or something?

ETA Bah! Cannot find a set and they are pretty expensive everywhere - averages £7.50 per book on Amazon.

send the author a mail, worth a try. i actualy bought those zombie fallout ones, worth every penny. they do bring in a hint of vampirism but they do it in a non cheesy way if you know what i mean

the tim ones are the best
Indian hill books are good too, those are based on aliens, who capture humans and make them fight in a Hunger Games type scenario!

start off with the zombie fallout and then the tim books. it really doesnt matter which way you read them but it helps you develop a sort of timeline in your head.

I just finished the vol I and II graphic novels of The Strain and quite enjoyed them. One thing that did annoy me was the thought they've ripped off the monsters from resident evil 5. Knowing Del Toro is a big video game fan it probably influenced him.

So i did, and this is his reply:

I love the fact that you want to dive headfirst into the ZF world. There's a couple of 'unfortunates', the first being that we have looked for a boxed set type ofdisplay for packaging and gifts, as of yet we haven't found anything that isn'ttoo price prohibitive and secondly and probably more importantly shipping twosets of books your way which I would gladly do, would be somewhere in theneighborhood of two hundred bucks. Man I'd get you the books for cost but you'dstill be looking at close to three hundred dollars to do this. For that priceyou could buy yourself a nice ereader and get the books electronically. Mark Tufo
    How cool is that?!

Just a quick update my full list of recently read books are at work but I started and finished Stephen Leathers latest Jack Nightingale book -Nightshade, I'm not a big fan of Stephen Leather mainly because I don't like the fact that he reviews his own work under assumed names, if he hadnt done that I would have at least had a bit of respect for him.

    http://paidcontent.org/2012/09/06/so...-book-reviews/

That said I do like the Jack nightingale series and while this is the weakest of the four so far its still worth a read, it wanders and meanders a little like he didn't know where to focus and really I cant help but think that this should have been a novella rather than a full blown novel. but never the less it was better than painting the staircase (my other option for sunday afternoon lol)

    Thanks to casio

I started reading wool. Found it really boring and put it down after a few days, never really gripped me.

    Found the Strain fantastic.

Reading The Chimp Paradox by Dr Steve Peters, this is obviously a factual book about how your brain works and how you can deal with pressure, emotion etc.

A short list of the people he has helped with his Human/Chimp concept
    Chris Hoy
    Vicki Pendelton
    Sky Cycliing team
    Uk Athletics before 2012 Olympics
    Ronnie O'Sullivan
    Steven Gerrard
The rest of the Liverpool team

Basically everyone he has worked with he has brought success to them ;-)

Currently revisiting The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy set, I haven't read them for a good 10 years. I'm on book two (The Restaurant at the End of the Universe). Loving it all over again.

Am currently reading James Patterson "Unlucky 13" in the women's murder club series - love James Patterson books, they are such an easy read. However, I am impatiently waiting for George RR Martin to hurry up and finish the next book in the Game of Thrones series - it seems to be taking ages.

I'm currently working my way through George R.R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series and can't believe he thought he could get away with copying off the TV series Game of Thrones. It's almost scene for scene the same...

But seriously I'd held off reading these books as I was concerned that watching the TV show would ruin them for me. The books are great though and even though I've know what is going to happen with the majority of the plots, the deepness of the character development has more than made up for this. I feel I know a lot more about the numerous characters and their backgrounds now. I'm currently on the third book A Storm of Swords and events seems to be catching up to where the TV show is in general.

I enjoyed all the five books of Game of Thrones - started them about part way through the first series being aired on TV. This was a great way to actually visualise the characters while reading the books, although there are a few differences between the books and the series, it was not far off. If I recall correctly this latest series (No 4) covers only about a third of the third book. So there's gonna be loads more series yet to come - that should take us up to about 2020 ha ha
