EU/UK Xbox 360 Pricedrop Coming August 24th?

An x-scene reader sent us a flyer from french retailer Carrefour indicating an Xbox360 pricedrop for Europe on August 24th. The ad shows the Xbox 360 Premium for 349eur (current official price is 399eur) and the core for 279eur (current official price is 299eur). You'll notice the retailer will even take an additional 25eur off the premium price with their 'fidelity program', probably to help clear their stock of non-HDMI Premium consoles.
The Xbox360 Elite is launching in Europe on that very same date ... while MS didn't announce an official price yet, retailers have been taking pre-orders for 499eur ... so it looks like the new EUR prices will 'number-match' the USD price for all SKUs.

About UK (GBP) pricing ... the guys over at disposablemedia.blogspot.com got this info from their 'Microsoft insider' (who also confirms the August 24 date):

Well Sony's reputation aint any better.

Plus they are changing the design inside for it to be less noisy and less hot.

I'd rather put my faith in Sony's build quality over Microsofts. I've never had a sony product that was lacking on the design front. Same can't be said of MS though.

Someone I work with has a faulty PS3, it's the only faulty one I've heard of unlike the 360.

However I've just sold my PS3 to fund a new 360 (as my last one broke) - I've done this because I like playing games, not waiting for them.

Sony has better hardware and with built in blue ray/wireless etc it is a better price but with no games to play it made a lovely doorstop.

Bring on the fanboy onslaught.....
