GETTING HELP MAKING A WEBSITE
Hi guys
Im interested in making a website but have no idea how to go about it, ive made homepages with hyperlinks years back but thats it, this has to be fully functional and look good.
Can anyone recommend somewhere I could go, and what should I do to ensure no one steals my idea while they are 'helping me'.
Thanks

Re: GETTING HELP MAKING A WEBSITE
I would take a look at Wordpress, very easy to setup and loads of support for it across the web as well as thousands of plugins.

What sort of website? One page or multiple pages. Do you need a blog that you and/or visitors can post to? Do you need web forms? Shopping cart?
For a single page you can use something as easy as Microsoft Word, or one of many 'free' :) WYSIWYG programs that are available. If you need anything more than that then I agree with evilsatan that Wordpress is probably your best bet. Wordpress has thousands of free plugins available that you can use to enhance your site but also has lots of free plugins to improve the Wordpress environment itself. The Wordpress console is pretty basic but with one or two plugins installed it makes it much easier to change the typeface, font size, colour, etc. The plugins can make it almost as easy as using Microsoft Word. If using Wordpress you would just need to add a search plugin. That's the beauty of it, all the hard work has been done for you. (">

It depends what you are looking for, Wordpress is modular so add existing plugins to make it do what you want but if you are looking for a bespoke site best find a proper web designer and have them sign an NDA before starting the project if it's a sensitive idea. Must be quite a few developers on here!
