No more Sky

So my cushy deal with Sky finally screwed up. Had a couple years worth so no complaints really.

In short my neighbour had Sky package and I essentially had his multi-room. In return for me paying fuck all for Sky, I let him used my wifi. All was good until he decided to get Sky mobile as well. Not that, that was the problem. Turns out they messed up the Direct Debit and cut him off. So he called them and went ape shit at them. He's not technical or diplomatic. End result was the TV is now cut off and he's blacklisted! He was already on the naughty boy list with them and only some Scottish call centre would deal with him. So, to cock that up was pretty impressive.

He's gonna stump up for a couple of mag boxes and an iptv sub which is fine. I don't give two shits about tv. I download or stream anything I want to watch anyway.

I digress...

What can I do to get at the recordings on the box? Is there still that freeview card for a one off payment?

Beyond that, I am going to rip the 2tb hard drives from both boxes when a replacement solution is in place. Anything I need to know about that.

To be really honest I watch all sly TV channels and sp0rts channels on my android box

just cut the cord bro and go elsewhere

The recordings are out there to re-watch on the various K0di/Apks out there

i binned then a few years ago, some deals are ok but then the deal runs out and you discover you are paying 100 quid a month for rubbish that you dont need...

never looked back tbh

This bit concerns me in general. Companies can fuck us around and if we behave like human beings that have reached the end of their limits of patience we can be cut off. I know call centre workers are told they must essentially be robots (no deviation from the script on the screen). I don't remember when we became obliged to do the same.

I binned sly/virmin and the rest about 5 years back, I don't need them and they don't need me as others pay extortionate prices just to get their crap which if you look at it you cannot watch. I remember flicking thru 200+ channels and there was "nothing" to watch which caught my eye

Glad I ditched em and save a small packet

I ditched them too and have went down the route discussed above using mag’s
