How England rated against Italy

Roy Hodgson's England remain unbeaten since their World Cup failure in Brazil after Andros Townsend cancelled out Graziano Pelle's headed opener in a 1-1 friendly draw with Italy in Turin.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane was given his full international debut while captain Wayne Rooney remains two goals off equalling Sir Bobby Charlton's England goal scoring record.
Southampton striker Pelle headed Italy in front before the break, but Townsend's brilliant 25-yard strike rescued a draw for England.
How did England's players fare overall?
England
Joe Hart (Goalkeeper) 7

Made two good saves and had little chance with Graziano Pelle's goal.
Nathaniel Clyne (Right back) 5

Not a hugely distinguished night. Was caught out of position occasionally and England's narrow team line-up did not help him.
Kieran Gibbs (Left back) 6

Steady but unspectacular. Missed a good second-half chance.
Phil Jagielka (Centre back) 7

England's best defender - some anxious second-half moments but did well overall.
Chris Smalling (Centre back) 5

Some uncomfortable moments as Italy put England under pressure, then went off injured before half-time.
Phil Jones (Midfielder) 5

Proved he will never be an England player in a midfield position. So often he looks clumsy and uncomfortable at this level.
Fabian Delph (Midfielder) 5
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...26571546-1.jpg
Part of an ineffective England midfield before he was substituted in the second half.
Jordan Henderson (Midfielder) 5
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...26572259-1.jpg
Anonymous and lots of the energy he did put in was wasted.
Theo Walcott (Forward) 5
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...26572410-1.jpg
Very quiet night in a forward role with Harry Kane. Looked rusty and it is clear that if he is to play, he must play wide. Not used correctly.
Wayne Rooney (Forward) 6
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...26571762-1.jpg
Worked tirelessly throughout, although nowhere near his best. Hit the woodwork and forced a fine save from Buffon. Sir Bobby Charlton's England scoring record must wait for another day.
Harry Kane (Forward) 6

Found it much harder than when playing against Lithuania and was clattered within moments by Italy's Giorgio Chiellini. Not his fault as service was poor for so long, but still showed good instincts near goal.
Substitutes
Michael Carrick (for Smalling, 44 minutes) 7
So composed on the ball. Gave England direction as a midfield anchor.
Kyle Walker (for Clyne, 45 minutes) 5
Lack of defensive awareness occasionally exposed. Battle still on for England's right-back position.
Ross Barkley (for Walcott, 55 minutes) 7
Excellent cameo from Everton's youngster. Added real drive and threat - an exciting talent.
Andros Townsend (for Delph, 70 minutes) 6
Great strike for England's equaliser and looked confident.
Ryan Mason (for Henderson, 74 minutes) 5
Quiet debut.
Ryan Bertrand (for Gibbs, 88 minutes): No rating.
