Anyone used a 30pin to VGA adapter for the Ipad?
I've got an ipad 3 on IOS7 (JB) and I wanna use ppt on the projectors at school. All the other teachers use a laptop via VGA, supplied by the school but being a part timer I don't get that luxury.
I was looking at the adapters on the market here and there appears to be official ones for 30 quid and then a variety of non descript ones ranging from a fiver to 20 quid.
After having issues with 3rd party apple to composite adapters, are there any issues with cheaper VGA adapters? I really need it to be as reliable as possible, don't wanna walk into work and be fucked with nothing to teach cos the cables just decided to stop working.
So, anyone got any experience?

If it's important, get the original £30 one.
At least if you update the firmware it will still be supported.

my brother used one at his wedding to my projector and it was fine, he bought the one from the apple store. He ran a presentation form it for a quiz on the day after. No setting up just plug n play

Just get a cheap laptop/netbook, 50 quid ?
Re: Anyone used a 30pin to VGA adapter for the Ipad?
I have an old laptop that can handle a few ppt but it weighs too much and the battery is fucked, I did consider dropping a few hundred on a netbook but then I thought geting the VGA adapter made more sense, since I often have my ipad with me anyway.
Gonna go for an official one, if I can actually find somewhere I can trust to sell me one. Although, there doesn't seem to be an abundance of people complaining about unofficial ones being problematic, like the unofficial composite ones.

Had experiences with the composite ones in the past. Official, fine - third party, no go unless JB. If you are JB then it should not be an issue?
Recently bought my mam and iPad Mini and got her a 3rd party camera connectivity kit. I have the official one and it works fine, the 3rd party one works but it does flash up saying 'This might not work correctly'. Seems that Apple might be allowing 3rd party stuff now and basically telling users that it might not work?
I have just took delivery of a 3rd party composite one to plug into a cheap mini projector I bought, fingers crossed.
Re: Anyone used a 30pin to VGA adapter for the Ipad?
the third party composhite cable I bought worked well until I updated the ipod I was using it with, then it became locked out by IOS7. I did read that I could fix it with some software on cydia, but when I looked into it the software was old and didnt really work very well.
I dont think the situation is the same with the VGA adapter, there certainly doesn't seem to be a massive amount of issues with the cheaper adapters, the majority of complaints are just about DRM media playing lock outs by the official cable but for the sake of 15quid I will try and source the real deal.
