Re: Self Employment question
Wait and see if you get your bill for NI contributions they arrive every quarter or you could contact them and see if it all went through. I received a pack telling me stuff about accounting and running a business but I can't remember who sent it to me but I did it all over the phone with a single call to HMRC
Re: Self Employment question
Ok mate, I will wait and see for the time being. I assume my Government Gateway ID should prove I registered by the 3 month deadline. It all seemed to go through ok but I had expected some kind of correspondence via post or email with regards to tax procedures and NI payments.
Cheers
Re: Self Employment question
I did it all over the phone the same as Little John and received some sort of pack in the post not long after.(This was about 5 years ago so I'm a bit foggy on exactly what was received!) If I were you I'd give them a quick call to put your mind at ease. They've always been quite helpful when I've had to speak to them.
Re: Self Employment question
You should get a letter through fromn HMRC saying that we believe we should be asking you to complete a tax return blah blah - this will have your UTR on so keep it (accountant will want it to get you set up on his agent id). You will also get a bill through quarterly for the class 2 ni but they often take ages to get them in place. If you want to call to chase them so the bill doesn't get too high the no is 0845 9154655, all you should need is your nino and the date you started as self employed, you can also set up a monthly dd if it's easier.
