Xbox One wont connect to network?
A friends Xbox One wont connect to the network it keeps bringing up this message.
"Your security Protocol will not work
This console supports WPA/WPA2 (personal), WPA2(Personal), and WEP network security protocols, but your router is using something else. You will need tochange you router configuration .....go to Xbox ...etc"
Their Xbox 360 is connected no problem so what is wrong with the One's connection? They also just told me they cant even do a network test on it? Weird!
Any ideas pleas?
Thanks
Re: Xbox One wont connect to network?
take out the router and try it direct to the network ?
Re: Xbox One wont connect to network?
Ok seems its maybe more of a BT hub 5 issue with XB1 as I tested the XB1 at my home and it works wirelessly? It also works at theirs wired?
As for that error message above they no longer get that, they can find their router, enter the password but it just wont connect YES the password is 100% correct?
Also not sure what you mean "take router out and try it direct to network?" If i take router out i have no internet?
Thanks
Re: Xbox One wont connect to network?
I would logon to the router and create a new wireless network with a protocol that the xbox supports.
that shoukd get you up and running.
Re: Xbox One wont connect to network?
You would have to explain how to do that in Xbox to Router for dummies way! I know how to logon to router and change password etc but not sure how to set up new wireless network it supports? I'll google it and see what I can find
Thanks
Re: Xbox One wont connect to network?
You didn't mention your provider in the op, I was assuming you being connected to virgin, putting the hub into modem mode.

ok! Start by logging on to the router and then go Advanced Settings, next go to Wireless.
from there I could create a new wireless network, call it something / whatever you like, leave the channel as auto and then configure the security as wpa / wpa2. Type in a network key and then apply that change.
your router should now broadcast this new network alongside the defaults.
from your xbox, scan for wireless networks as you did previously, select the new network you created, enter the password as you entered and you should be connected.
all this is based on the contig of my bt homehub4, hopefully things arent too different on the 5.
good luck.
Re: Xbox One wont connect to network?
Thanks for the replies but its all working now? They came to collect it today and I told them that they may need to try what has been mentioned above but when they got home and connected it all back up and it worked straight away? So no idea what was blocking it in the first place?
Thanks again for your help.
