Show off your hi-fi setup.
I've had a search, and while I thought there surely must be a thread already like this, I can't see one. If I missed it, feel free to close/point to it/throw tomatoes.
Anyway, I'm looking for inspiration as I'm starting from scratch after about 20 years out of the game. I keep buying vinyl, but I don't even have a turntable.
So, let's see your setups. I know there's some keen audiophiles on DF.

Sold up my much loved Arcam and B&W stuff when I left England and wanting to get something new myself, but as of yet not even looked at it, I'm also about 10 years out of date.

There's my speakers . Martin Logan ascent . Pre and power amp I built myself . Michell gyrodec turntable which I've owned since 1990. Squeezebox touch feeds a dac I made . Will try and post a pic of that lot later . Speakers are badly positioned at the minute while I refurb the house (belonged to a pensioner it's like a museum !)

Re: Show off your hi-fi setup.
I used to have a tonne of high end audio gear all centred around arcam and denon kit which cost me thousands over the years but I only ever hit what I considered to be a great sound a couple of times. Ridiculous for the money I spent. I even had the local experts around to set the room up a couple of times
To be completely honest I get a nice enough sound out of my Bose and Pioneer WiFi speakers and will happily buy more of the same when I finally get into our new house. Very happy with the sound they make.

hahah yes i apply it liberally to my ears when listening. the martin logans are truly something . you should have seen the mrs face when i turned up with them - she came home one night to find them in the house. i've owned lots of kit over the years and worked in hifi/ pro audio for a very long time - and i've not heard anything as good. my jaw hit the floor when i first cranked them up.

Did you get the speakers brand new or second hand? weren't they like 4k or something new?
Very nice, bet they sound awesome
Re: Show off your hi-fi setup.
My current main system. Quad FM4, 34 Pre, 306 Power and Tannoy Mercury's.

Yes second hand - and yes they were approximately 4k . I paid much less than that and they were in mint condition. Speakers & turntable are the only things I've not made myself so I didn't mind spending a lot - but not that much !

I fell in love with this set up when I was a kid. A friend of my fathers had the earlier versions with the yellow buttons with a pair of ESL 57's. When I started getting into HiFi back in the 80's this system was still selling for a couple of grand! Mine are late 90's vintage and cost me £170 mint with boxes and manuals. The are beautifully made (before quad got bought out) and sound silky smooth. I still think they look pretty up to date even though they are 20+ years old. Alas I don't have room or the money for electrostatics! I've not seen or heard monobloc 306's but I've had a few 303's in mono and they were great apart from the quirky looks.

This a desktop system I'm putting together for work. Mint 1971 vintage Sony TA-88 amp and ST-88 tuner. Legendary Sony build quality and a great sound from a very small package (these things are tiny). I'm trying to find some suitable speakers for them at the moment.

Re: Show off your hi-fi setup.
I am looking to get a valve amp when I have finished my DIY.
I am going to buy a Yaqin 100B. It is a chinese amp. So much cheaper. With a few customisations and buying a few hundred quid of valves, you have an amp that is on par with almost anything else money can buy. I will get a decent turntable for a few hundred quid. But I also have the squeezebox touch and an external DAC. The Touch can support 24bit 192khz audio. So I am now upgrading my digital audio collection so that I have something to play.
