New firmware update incoming
Just came across this on my travels :

Sony will release their next PS3 firmware update on September 21st and the biggest feature the update will bring about is the ability to play 3D movies. Originally it was planned for a late October release, but Sony has bumped it up a month early and PS3 owners with 3D TVs should be excited about this. While there may not be a large selection of 3D titles available for purchase today, this update shows that the PS3 is truly "future proof". With 3D gaming supported and soon movies, Sony is showing the PS3 can adapt to the market and support new changes and ideas.
As with every firmware update before it, there will likely be additional features made alongside the ability to play 3D movies.
Still not sold on 3DTV as a format but Sony are pushing it hard.
I have no interest in this myself so I'm staying at 3.41 still :P
Re: New firmware update incoming
yeah not particularly bothered about 3dtv, 3d still isnt that great for me and the price of a 3DTV plus glasses for everyone puts it into the "cant be arsed" range for me
Re: New firmware update incoming
I was reading that Samsung are working on a TV with similar tech to the upcoming 3D nintendo DS that uses no glasses - now that might be worth a look maybe. If it works or at least isnt too expensive I can see it sinking all this current gen 3d rubbish - it doesnt even have to be better just more convient and not too costly.

It's Hitachi - they say they will have a model to hit the consumer market before Christmas. The problem is that it is very restrictive and you have a very small margin of error for seating locations just like the 3DS.
Personally I'd go for the Sammy or LG passive glasses sets at the moment as the glasses are only a few quid each for them and don't go out of sync with the TV or batteries run out halfway through a movie lol. (Yes I know people this has happened to).

You can shove 3D TV up your shitter
Re: New firmware update incoming
not arsed here either.
I'm not spunking £1000 on a 3dTV so I can sit looking like a Bono impersonator in me front room.

Aye balls to it - I've just bought myself a new projector today - was waiting for the 1080P ones but the ones announced at IFA are way out of my price range! Knowing my luck they'll announce a sub $2000 one at Cedia next week!
