finding a for sale business
Been googleing but was wondering if anyone can help me here.
Trying to find out if a shop is for sale.
Background
Wife is a manager at an off-licence and as had someone in the shop asking about it and said it was for sale. Earlier this year another another one of the stores was in the same situation and in the end even though the area manager and hr etc completely denied it they found out the week before that the sale had gone through.
We would be interested in buying the store but they will not tell us if its for sale and are yet again denying that it is. Somewhere it must be online for sale if that's the case but i cannot find it. saying that i couldn't find the other shop either.
the shop address is booze buster
84 Higher Parr Street, St Helens, Saint Helens, Merseyside WA9 1AF
Is there anyone that is able to help? |
Re: finding a for sale business
Trade magazines like the grocer have a section in the bag with businesses for sale.
What you may find though that if it's a privately run business the owner is just putting the word out to other business owners he knows and not advertising.
Re: finding a for sale business
Its a chain of stores owned by a bigger company but they have had in the past the area manager asking nearby stores if they are interested
Re: finding a for sale business
I guess the other option might be to see if you can contact the leaseholder of the property to see if the business owner has made them aware of an impending sale.

Re: finding a for sale business
Thats an idea never thought of that.
however she has interrogated the area manager today and it does seem like they are looking to sell. his words was it is not officially for sale. she repeatedly made the point we would like to be informed if it was because we would be looking at possibly buying if the price was right. he started asking questions then abut if it would be her running it and how would she turn it around. so it looks like they are looking to sell and know we are interested.
Lets see what happens.

Good luck, hope you get it.
Re: finding a for sale business
Did the other one that sold stay part of the chain?
Re: finding a for sale business
no was bought by someone that owned a post office.
update.
got a scrap piece of paper with the out goings on. need more info off him but it looks like its losing money. Could be improved but needs approx about another £1500 gross per week to break even. If i do buy it needs to be a great price. We think that as it used to make well over the break even point it could with the right management get back there but it could be a big gamble.
