I now pronounce you: Mr and Mrs Columba livia
A horrendously bright day for photos, but saw this lady lying on a step in the middle of town. Never been so close to a bird; she didn't move as I approached her so I assume there was something wrong (injured or pregnant or whatever, what do I know about birds?).

Only managed a couple of snaps before the old man stepped in to protect her:

Just came across them going through pictures from the summer; thought the colouring on their collars showed up quite nicely.

I can just see him now in Trafalgar square stopping to take a pic of a pigeon and before he knows what's going on there are at least 10 sitting on him........ Sorry rephrase that, at least 10 shitting on him.

I spat oot my tea laughing.
I'm Londoner born and bred. Some traumatic childhood memories are coming back to me of being mobbed by 800 pigeons in trafalgar square cos dad thought it would be cute if I fed them. Razor-like beaks jabbing my infant palms. Such flapping. Oh the flapping.
I muse have suppressed all that.
Remember they used to sell corn kernals so you could feed them? Don't think I've seen that in a while.
P.S: Actually I've seen a guy in town here that comes out at night and with great stealth lobs sackfuls of bird feed on the ground at various spots in town, never looking back or breaking pace. I wonder if the council don't allow feeding them?
