windows 2000 corrupting data

I've got a p4 2.4ghz (533) system with 512mb sdram, jetway p4xfa motherboard and a 3com 3c905c-tx network card. if install windows 2000 anything i copy accross the network gets corrupt above 6mb. I've tried an install of windows 98se and installing the network card and any amount of data and that works ok. I've tried loading all the updates on win2k and downloading all the latest drivers for the system. I've also tried windows xp pro and i get the same problem with thats

1st of all what hub speed r u using
2nd is the lan cable damaged?
3rd is the nic old (ISA)?

the system is conected to a 10/100mbps hub. I've also tried a switch and get the same problem.
I've also tried a different cable and the nic is a 3com 3c905c-tx which is pci
